Grambling I predict is going to attempt to make Alcorn showcase a vertical passing game. I expect the Grambling's defense to be full of 4-3 and 46 looks. They want to take away the middle of the field so the Braves cannot showcase athleticism in space. Our WRs MUST win the battle against their DBs. The Key for ALCORN in this game is using the RB to go in motion OR go straight up the field for a check down. Screens and draws will be important. Additionally, we must continually pound the football and NO TURNOVERS. Fobbs is probably making his defense do extra conditioning in practice. But ALCORN has a secret weapon (HINT: See Seahawks vs. Redskins Game).

Defensively for Alcorn, I predict Grambling will rely on the legs of Jonathan Williams to extend drives. Grambling will want long drives to eat clock. But remember, Eric Dooley is the OC so he will take his shots. Send pressure on Williams every down. Alcorn's DBs are athletic enough to cover man on man and RECOVER if beaten.

Unless Grambling can get five turnovers or more, they won't win.

unless, you have improved, he is right. You needed five turnovers to beat us by 5. You will need 10 turnovers to beat Alcorn by 5... (but I do want GSU to win.. :snicker:... the front door is STILL unlocked.. :) )

This will be their exact game plan defensively, in fact its been what most teams do in the 2nd half after we have gotten up. Alcorn has countered this approach and broken huge game breaking plays in the 2nd half of the last two games when teams went to this approach.


This is why SU is pretty confident in playing us again, they have forgotten that our Defense is still there & the offense still scored 28pts regardless of the change in defensive approach

Shouldnt really matter where he has been. We didnt have much to talk aboutwith Doug at the Helm. Its kinda like what JSU is going through with Jackson (Snickering). We are doing some things differently in the G. Hell you should know that we beat you in Grambling yet AGAIN!!! LOL

I really don't think Coach Fobbs will try to go ball control...maybe in certain instances based on down and distance, but we're coming out ATTACKING! Fobbs has been quoted as saying he wants an uptempo fast paced game. This is a BIG RECRUITING game for us and the local/area talent will be there. The skill position players nowadays want uptempo football...that's what we're gonna give them. I think Coach said it will be full court similar to "Basketball on Grass". We're taking it to the hoop baby... take your snacks (pig feet, neckbones, corn on the cob and kool-aid) in with you cuz ain't no pausing for Concession or bathroom breaks!

I saw Grambling play JSU. Grambling likes to use their big TE's. They also have a very good QB. He can throw and is mobile. Our defense can not let him sit in the pocket. Grambling's strength is their offense. Their defense is not that good. In all honesty, JSU beat themselves with the turnovers and that QB mistake at the end of the game.

I believe Alcorn can be beat. You got to have the right game plan. If Alcorn's defense will not allow you to beat them deep, you have to take what the defense give you. However, you have to take shots down the field to stretch the field and keep their defense off balance. If you have the manpower to stop their running game and not give their receivers too much cushion, I don't think they can route you with the long ball. Alcorn will nickel and dime you on short passes if you're stopping the run. Alcorn is the best team I've seen in the SWAC. However, I haven't seen them against S.U. at full strength and without gift giving that can change the complexion of the game. I haven't been fortunate enough to see Grambling play yet. I suspect Grambling will try their best to protect their home turf though this weekend. Alcorn's offense is turnover prone and will give you opportunities. The question is, can your team take advantage of them. Being one dimensional on offense will not allow you to beat Alcorn State.....
