I Need a Firearm

To each is own....I am a strong advocate of gun training. PERIOD. You want a gun all you have to do is go to your local Sheriff's office and ask about gun training.
You can also find a reputable gun shop and do the same thing, or search the NRA and look up NRA certified training, since that is the plan most training facilities have adopted. The sheriff's office may offer a type of training, but that depends on were you live. But there is nothing with coming on this board and asking questions, because even in this discussion they have more information now, then when they started asking questions.

My belief on this subject is simple: If you are in the market for a gun and asking for our input here you should not own a gun. My advice to you, coming from a person who once had a concealed weapons permit, is to take a gun class and ask your instructors what will be the best one suited for you.
The instructors in the CHL classes will not tell you what type of gun you should get. Doesn't matter as long as it is legal.

Okay....I am handgun shopping again. Thinking about the Ruger American .45 ACP. I also looked at the Ruger SR45 ACP. Even considered going 007. Leaning really hard towards the American though.

Comments please.....thinking about an after holiday purchase hoping the prices drops a bit more.

Gun owners- I'm in the market for a gun. I've never owned one before, and I can count on one hand how many times I've actually fired a weapon. Last year, my cousins let me use their Glock 19 and Glock 42. I was really comfortable with the Glock 42, but the fact they don't have safeties is a concern with a 4- and 5-year old running around the house....I'm in the process of ordering a lock box, but still. My wife was fighting me on it for the last 6 or 7 years, but after seeing all this foolishness unfold, she doesn't feel so safe in the suburbs anymore.

I will have to get out to a gun range and try using some other revolvers and semi-auto's. Any suggestions? My budget is $600.00.

Yeah, that's my Xmas gift...another gun...my dude has about 200 of them...he suggested a Taurus also...I thought the Ruger felt better but they both have clips...I wanted something where I could pull and shoot without have to rack the bullet. He said that will be a revolver but we're talking 5 shots...I want 15+ shots.

Listen at you...."rack the bullet"....LOL. Gon' on c_t! Got that lingo working.

go to the gun store and try them out. See what fits your hand and what weight and kick is acceptable. Then get the right caliber gun. A .22, you got to shoot a lot to inflict damage--you winging them in a lot of cases and it won't stop a big person quick. A .357 or 9 mm, 1 and done in most cases. Just my tips...but ask questions and get what YOU want. THEN, take your kids to the gun range and get them guns also. My kid had his first .410 at around 6....moved up progressively as he got older. The kids should KNOW how to defend themselves. Go back to your family in the southern country and let them shoot away. Fear and lack of knowledge of guns gets folks killed...I have guns all over the house...but the kids know how to shoot them, so nobody messes with them.

@chocalate_topaz
CT, you had me excited and heart broken all in the same thread. I was like ...oooohhhhh weeeee...that's my kind of gal there. Then I read that part in bold in your second post and thought to myself..."Nahh I'm Good!" lmao

I want another AR-15...... The revolution will not be televised. It might be tweeted though....
Another one? Dang Cee, you sound like those older guys I eat breakfast with. One guy's brother asked him how many guns he had...he did not hesitate..."I don't know".

You couldn't give me a Taurus as my carry weapon for free. They have way too many issues and getting them fixed is a nightmare.

I considered the Taurus Slim when I got my first firearm. I chose a Glock instead. I believe there were many issues with Taurus guns a while back but it has been resolved and they are very reliable. Nevertheless, I think I will continue to roll with Team Glock!

I have shot many, but I always end up coming back to Glock. I own 2 and am issued a 3rd. Still deciding if I am gonna let one go or not. Glocks are just rock solid, and when you squeeze the trigger, they will go bang with very few malfunctions. Lack of a mechanical safety scares some away though.

You can carry a semi-auto like that, just have to carry it "hot" (with one in the chamber already).
