I just got out the joint...

Did ya miss me?

Ole Suge just got home from being on lockdown...in the hospital since Thursday! I have been offcially diagnosed with diabetes! That's right, Suge has Sugar! I wasn't going to post this, but I remember a few years back when Kenn posted that he too had diabetes, and a few others as well.....

But my main reason was to encourage those of you who have a history of diabetes in your family, or if you have been gaining some pounds as the years move along, to go and get your blood glucose levels checked. Especially the brothers....

I suffered all the classic symptoms the last to weeks(frequent unrination, severe thirst, dehydration, dizzy, fatigue, headache, nausea) yet didn't make a trip to the Doctor's office until Thursday and my levels were wll over 1,000, and I went straight from the Drs. office to the ER. All is well now. I feel 100% better than I had been feeling, and will be strictly following this diet etc. So that I can get off these insulin shots in the new few weeks/months.

Go see your doctor.

I'm trying now to get off glucophage...During the pregnancy I had it "gestational diabetes"....and I followed that diet and did well. My problem is that I am insulin resistant...

It took me a while to digest it all, but do what your doctor say Suge. There are too many folks who want to battle Diabeties in their own way and end up badly.

Damn this story sounds eerily similar to my saga last year, except I don't have diabetes.

Man, we gotta be careful. Take care of yourself, man. Your story just put my arse BACK on a better dietary plan.

Good luck to you Suge.

So what is your gameplan to good health bro. Lets get started yesterday!!!!

My gameplan is simple.....get off my phat arse. Like most people, there just aren't enough hours in the day. When I am in season(football & track), my days start at 5 and end at 7. So I would just by pass the workout. Plus the wife would be hella busy so we eat fast food, takeout, pick up, etc. And that lifestyle has taken its toll on my health. Meal planning is work, but it is what we have to do. It is almost as if making a weekly menu.

I just have to do more planning, and make sure that I get in some workouts during the week. That is why I am buying a treadmill for home, so that I can walk/run while watching TV when I need to wind down from my day, plus get in some weekend work when I just don't want to go to the gym, and to make sure I can walk off when I splurge on my meal plan. Right now school is out and I work out in the morning and walk the pups in the afternoon. It is easy to work out now, when school and football starts will be my test.

As for food. I am on a restricted calorie and carb meal plan as directed by my docs. The hard part is making sure I eat enough carbs each meal. I can't just eat a salad and call it a meal or my sugar levels could drop. One cool thing is thanks to the low carb craze there are alot of convenient foods that can be bought that are low in carbs and taste good too, plus they are easy to pop in the microwave, etc.

Don't forget that cholestorol level 2 Suge. That's that red-headed beast I've been battling for the last 3+ years.

I know it's hard. But after a while, you get adjusted to it and just go w/ the flow.

I know you'll do well in it.

Suge, I can make you a meal plan for the summer bro.

I've been using it to for the past month. Remember, drink lots of water and try not to eat after 7:30 pm at night.

J4J I have a notebook that keep track of meals and my sugar levels, plus my workouts....it is just easier for me to write it down.

Sonny...thanks, but I have it under control. Unlike many people, I know what to do, and how to do it, I just wasn't doing it.

Suge is out.

I have one too. And like you, know what to do, wasn't doing it.
