We all get pimped from time to time. Whether this is pimping or not this is a generous act and if we would support OUR institutions better we could pimp ourselves.
Why shouldn't they (UGA) benefit from their benevolence? People benefit from much less and most times it helps no one but themselves. As I type this post I am writing a check to sTu. How much is it? NONE OF YOUR DAMNED BUSINESS!

Giving Back to Your HBCU is more than just writing a damn check. Do you promote your HBCU individually in the company of other Colleges, rather FBS, P5, HBCU, etc.? Are you not ashamed to wear your HBCU Apparel at ANY PLACE, at ANYWHERE, at ANYTIME? Did you choose an HBCU for GRADUATE SCHOOL to further your education above a Bachelors?
See, our HBCUs need radical alumni, fans, and supporters. We don't need Half-Ass Alumni, fans, and supporters who suck up to schools bigger than them. The HBCU is already David in a fight against Goliath but you thinking playing it cool is good? You better FIGHT until you can't fight no more.
WAKE UP PEOPLE...we as Blacks will never be accepted in this country. Some of you borderline remind me of Stacey Dash and Raven Symone SMDH.
They only care about us as Blacks only when it benefits them. They didn't have a problem with Slaves picking Cotton for Free until the Slaves learned they can be paid for Hard Labor.

My company colors are Maroon & Grey. When I first started I had a partner and she wanted to change the company colors....NOT. I have sTu license plates...not a license plate holder. I wear sTu apparel every where...caps, hoodies...t-shirts...sTu NASCAR jacket. As a matter of fact I just ordered two long sleeved t-shirts and a hoodie today. I bought 2 hoodies for my son last year. So before you get on that soap box of yours you need to know who you are talking to.

One thing I will say about JSU, Alcorn, and Valley: When Haley Barbour came with that mess, WE STOOD UP and TOOK A STAND.

SU has no right to say anything about this or to them on how they HANDLE their business and what they do with UGA or whomever helps them.
You are certified crazy if you think them white folks at UGA are worried about trying to make SU look bad. In their master plan they want to destroy SU.

Exactly Cee. I don't like the SEC either. Actually was mad they fired Richt because it seemed like the good sentiment started with him as folks know he is supposed to be a devout Christian.
Anyway, Braveheart acts like you got Big Worm and SU folks standing up at the press conference skinning and grinning with all this. This is about that young man and his family. His Dad is a former SU football player as well. Good folks. They deserve the nice sentiment. From all accounts Devon is a remarkable young man even before the injury. Braveheart wants to turn this into a race thing.
Let SU start spewing off at the mouth at how they don't like the media attention or whatever UGA is getting and we will be murdered in the media. I can see it now. ESPN breaking news. Southern University ungrateful for UGA support to Devon Gales. SMH at this cat.

When Devan put the SU Jaguar Uniform on, he represented not only Southern University but the SU Brand, Culture, etc.
It seems to me that through all this good gestures, UGA is not only trying strengthen its public image but attempting to "Reculture" an HBCU Athlete by Black Exploitation.
Answer this JR: if SU would have beaten UGA on the field that day, would UGA STILL have made the same good gestures toward the young man and his family? It's easy to make a good gesture when you are whipping a team by 40 points and only really care about watching their Band Perform.

Dude I am a Naval Officer and in Corporate America upper management. Trust me I know what the deal is when I see. Been around them folks long enough to see through BS. This isn't what that is. If UGA had played McNeese State and the same thing happened, they would have done the same thing. It has nothing to do with race. Maybe if you HAD MY EXPERIENCE. You could tell the difference here instead of always doubting folks. Hell if anything they probably got some necks in GA wondering why they helping the "N" so much. I am sure they got some fans who could care less about Devon and SU. But this is from the people who run the University and folks tied to it that have influence doing this. Not some redneck with hate in their eyes. Not some SUIT who would not even vote to help the family or write a check. I am sure you got some who aint participating in this.
If they want media exposure for doing something nice, I am sure their PR people were all over it. No different than anything else they do to promote UGA. But to the extent they have gone with this is genuine. They didn't just talk the talk. They walk the walk and they didn't have too. Nobody is slamming SU about this. And don't trip. SU folks have done their part to support the Gales family too and he will continue to be supported by the SU family. We are Southern and we are One.

What I hoping for is for Gales to earn his degree then his masters and doctorate.

Give your own HBCU Alumni, Fans, and Supporters equal recognition for helping the young in his recovery. UGA isn't doing it by themselves (but they sure want to make it seem like they are).

There's a happening going on in that area, imho. I never liked it other than the cultural aspect of it. Those colored "boys" and a LOT of those colored "girls?" They could jump in the atlantic w/ concrete zip ties on and no life preserver for all I care
. And that includes a LOT of those from HowardU. 
Dummies.+1 to the probable positive legacy that's being created for Mr Gales amidst a perceived tragedy. That was a tremendous gift by that foundation (new home) and they didn't have to do it. I made a one time donation last fall that only today could afford a few new plates and cups set for the new home, as so many others had as well. For those who went over and beyond w/ the commitment, imho, they are to be commended - ulterior motive or not - the act remain(s/ed) the same.
