Who said anything about being controlled by the radio? Rap is controlled by the people and themes we talking about. I said someone need to tell these radio stations to start playing some of the people you mentioned BECAUSE THEY DON'T.

You want to get at those stations? Listen to who the advertisers are. There are ads that you won't hear on a white station that you will hear on a black one.

Texas Can, The Gas Pipe, Colter's, Bob Steak House, Cici's Pizza, Half Price Books and others are never played on black stations. And most are in the black community.

You will hear McDonalds, Driver Select, bail bonds and beer spots on black ones.

Look at your listeners. The same folks getting ignored are the same ones Vibe, black blogs and BET ignore to some extreme. Unless they c**n or clown.

Then you have to take into account where will hear music by the Roots and the others? Check the music list for Tony Hawk, Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row, NBA Live, NBA 2K and WWE video games. Check the soundtracks for certain films.

Which movie soundtrack would you expect to hear Lupe?

Twilgiht
Kick Azz
Cyrus (from the guys behind Hot Tub Time Machine)
Takers (black film)
Lottery Ticket (Bow Wow's film)

Won't be the two black films. He's on the Twilght Soundttrack.

Nall it's 97. They didn't make CD's standard until 1999 I think.
Bless your heart...I hope my Isuzu keeps on trucking after having that many miles on it. I have over 150,000 now and it's still going strong so far...thank you, Lord!

Everyone's a critic and no one likes anything anymore.

Wale, Slaughterhouse, Em, Nas and Damian Marley, Wu-Gambinos have all come out in the past few months. Rick Ross, TI, Lupe and Big Boi all have music coming out soon. All quality music. *shrugs*

10000% agree...some people have a pre-disposition about new music before they even here it...it doesnt matter if Jesus comes outta the speakers they automatically hate it.. they dont even listen to the whole CD...just the songs on the radio...

You have to search more for "good music" now than you had to back in the day...its not played on the radio as frequently..I would advise getting satellite radio

but you know old-er people will swear the music was better , the women were finer, the sun was hotter, and the fried chicken was better "back in the day"...so yall keep thinking there is limited good music out...I'll jam for ya...

Mine made it about 280k before I had to put her out of her misery.

what makes more "hip hop" than what you hear on the radio.... I just listened to this entire track....explain to me.

I think we are getting to the point in claiming "whatever we like is hip hop"... if we dont like it, it isnt hip hop lol

Black folks are the only ones who complain about shit like this... Simply put IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT LISTEN TO IT.... we have mp3 players, satellite radio, websites to burn free music and we still complaining about whats on the radio. Simply just admit, your favorite artist isnt selling or getting the fame that you believe he deserves and u need an outlet to release your frustration. Different people like different music... everybody aint going to like what you like... thats the good thing about music, its something for everyone. For instance this video Smoke just put up did absolutely nothing for me... some people like it... I dont, but you wont hear me saying "they garbage"..... I simply just wouldnt buy it. Different strokes for different folks.

Do white folks say Heavy Metal aint "real music"... hell no, they just dont listen to it...... EVERYBODY isnt going to think the same or have the same "taste" in music.

Why?

In fact, I have a hard time listening to any genre right now. It's bad. I know there are some decent artists out there, but for the most part it blows. It has no meaning or flow or nothing. Just cats filibustering on every track. I'm in the target audience of music suits. Should I be this disenchanted with music like this?

You must be referring to the stuff on the radio. You know that stuff is dumbed down for the sake of broad appeal and record sales. That's not hip-hop. That's just rap music. Yeah, that stuff blows.

All i said was HipHop is still alive and well...and posted a vid that described what everyone else was referring too.I aint say what U listen to aint hip hop in that post C....

BUUUUUUT I got Gucci's, Waka Mixtapes, and a few soulja boy tracks on my phone/MP3 player. I consider it Rap, Hip Hop Influenced even. And In my OPINION, Soulja Boy is the most hip hop outta the dudes I named. Cause He will make you dance and makes dance songs, as they did back in the day. But if the subject in yo music is tha same......album after album after mixtape.....then I cant say its tha same hip hop that it is from the time hip hop started to bout the 90's/early 2000's.......

lmao@ Album Sales....Negro yo fav rapper aint saling either since Limewire and albumhunt.com came out!

I agree with 80% of what you said.. we on the same track of thinking..... I guess I shouldnt have said album sales... but I should have said money period... the only rappers complaining or the ones who aint got no money no more.... If you got to talk about someone else to get your album to sell then you a flop to me. It kind of worked for Nas.... nobody was studying him.. then his marketing team came up with the "hip hop is dead" thing... and for the most part he was successful from it... he tried it again with ***** and it was a flop.

Once again I listenin to this clip you posted.. what are they talkin about?.... to be honest hell I would rather listen to Waka Flaka I go Hard in the Paint... it does more for me than this.... maybe its the South in me... Im from the South, this is some NY type ish.... I dont want to act like Im from NY or the Norht... like I said it aint bad music... I PERSONALLY just dont feel it. Kind of like country music.. it aint bad music, it just aint for me.
