In fact, I have a hard time listening to any genre right now. It's bad. I know there are some decent artists out there, but for the most part it blows. It has no meaning or flow or nothing. Just cats filibustering on every track. I'm in the target audience of music suits. Should I be this disenchanted with music like this?

Yes.

If it was recorded before 1990, don't buy it. There are a couple of exceptions like Toni and Alicia but most of the material that has been put out would have never have been recorded in the 60's & 70's. Its as if there is some kind of writers block that has struck the music industry. The problem is that we are now using computers to create music instead of the human mind of a musician who knows how to play an instrument. A lot of kids are now getting out of the middle and high school band after a couple of years, while some school districts in urban areas are trying to cut out music alltogether.

Welcome.

Cars and booty.
Those are the only 2 subject talked about in rap today by men and women. Listen to the next 5 songs that come on and I'll gurantee you 4 of them are talking about RIDING something and the 5th mixes in both......(Cars and humans).

The radio is depressing.

Tell me about it! Man 95.5 plays a lof garbage from these new rappers. I don't even listen to them anymore. I mainly listen to XM rap on XM65. They play a lot of old school hip-hop.

That's why I only listen to the blues. It's always something new going on in somebody's life.

I listen to my iPod or just post videos of songs that had substance on Facebook to share with everyone else. I can't listen to the new generation. Especially ringtone artist like Soljha Boi and Drake...

Well which cost less to do. Take those music lesson and buy those
instruments or buy some computer program to make music?

Schoola are axing those programs because it costs too much to repalce instruments that kids either lose or break. Kids don't have to pay for them now.

Kids are getting out of band because they don't see how it can make them money. They don't see the piano prodigy in Vibe or on BET like a Rodrick Demmings.

He's 18 now and attending a private school.

Don't forget strippers. Bow Wow is among the biggest offenders. How many times is this boy going to talk about taking strippers home to tuck him into bed?

I can't listen to the new generation.
Most of them refuse to improve. They think once they get a little chump change they don't have to improve.
Then you have the ones wit no talent but have a certain look. I can't tell if that Nikki girl has talent-she's either talking smack or posing naked somewhere.

From a blues lover from Muddy Waters; Howling Wolf; John Lee Hooker etc....Blues is crap now. Every song is about sex. Lick it, stand up in it; slow roll it;

Everyone's a critic and no one likes anything anymore.

Wale, Slaughterhouse, Em, Nas and Damian Marley, Wu-Gambinos have all come out in the past few months. Rick Ross, TI, Lupe and Big Boi all have music coming out soon. All quality music. *shrugs*

Then someone need to start telling these urban radio stations to start playing them more.

All I hear is:

Girl don't turn around.....I'm in love with your back.
When you turn around, I hope your face match.
I'm in love with your bootie, love with your bootie, love with your bootie,................

Why let the radio control who you listen to? Who doesnt have an mp3 player or a CD player? I stream most of my music with Rhapsody anyway.

Who said anything about being controlled by the radio? Rap is controlled by the people and themes we talking about. I said someone need to tell these radio stations to start playing some of the people you mentioned BECAUSE THEY DON'T. At home, I let XM Radio take over cause that way, I can pick the type of music I want to listen too by station.

Besides.
Paying $20 for a cd with maybe 4 good songs on it ain't for me. Never owned a MP3 player, (waste of money), and when I get in my car, ain't like I can control the radio station. And I do own a CD player and I insert old school R@B along with OLD SCHOOL rap. Keep the new stuff. :lecture:
