How do you fire your ENTIRE staff after only one season? What about these guys' families???

i'm sure the coaches know the deal, but everybody is playing the "Confused" role for the media.
 
Bullshyt Styles ....They sign a year deal but most expect to be around with the head coach. So if he signs a 3 year deal then they plan to be there for three years. Now if they don't produce the expect to be let go but how can you evaluate a staff in one year. Not even a full year. Mofos have not had a chance to instill their system..

Alcorn fugged up with Jones and this will hurt for years to come..
 
Well, I wouldn't say they f'd up with CEJ. It's the coaches first yr at Alcorn, so, it def ain't about the W/L. I don't think he did bad, and brought attention to the program. So, he talked from day 1 about JSU, cause that's what people wanna hear! Nothing wrong with bringing some LIFE into a program as a new HC.

And as for the AD, I think he is a business man first...he know what he need to do..handle business!

Anyhoo, I am sure everything is gonna be just fine. I do have to laugh at speculation though....but it's football, and all football talk is the same at any school, any conference, etc....

I'm pretty sure they were expecting to be around but they know what the risks are with those one year contracts. Those dudes are not that naive. But that's all I'm going to say because I'm ready to :uzi::slap::kaioken: :upset::mad::kaioken::upset: :mad: :kaioken::upset: :mad::kaioken::upset: :mad::kaioken::upset::mad::kaioken::saw:.

It's not that they may have signed 1 year deals it's more that they were hired as non-classified employees had those are only yearly employees. Most of the employees on the college and even high school levels are just that. They actually work year to year and could be let go without cause when that contract year is up.
 
Man, this situation is so hush, hush....even the Alcorn alums in the know have no idea what's going on. People who work on campus don't even know what's going. TP is doing an undercover investigation tho. I may turn up something soon.

Hate to say it but you are going to have to find a new head coach.
I don't honestly believe Earnest is going to stay around after all his guy's were fired and he knew nothing about it.

He didn't fire those guy's and I'm sure the AD won't be letting him do any hiring of new coaches he will have to work with.

i agree lc. cole would be an excellent choice. its too bad that the compliance issues will come to light. even if lc was cleared of any wrong doings- a red flag will always surface- hopefully this time around, some one will give this great coach a second chance.

Jones says all 9 assistants dismissed by school's athletic director

Alcorn State's entire football assistant coaching staff has been fired by athletic director Darren Hamilton, first-year coach Ernest Jones said Monday.


Jones then referred all further questions to attorneys Ricky Left and Wayne Farrell.

Jones said he was told of the changes Monday, when he and Hamilton talked face-to-face for the first time since the season-ending 26-21 loss to JSU on Nov. 22. The nine assistants were informed of the dismissals via letters left in their office mailboxes.

The coaches let go are: Earnest Collins, associate head coach and defensive coordinator; Dino Dawson, offensive coordinator; Michael Armour, wide receivers; Lorenzo Guess, strength and conditioning; Keith Majors, special teams; Jack Phillips, defensive backs; Terrance Robinson, running backs; Zach Shay, defensive line/linebackers; and Adam Shorter, offensive line.

You think? They paid them well above their means. Enrollment is dropping at at most HBCU's. Alcorn and Valley have less enrollments than several Community colleges in the sip...

I was a bit concerned when I first heard the 2008 enrollment numbers. I know Alcorn lost students, but each public HBCU in Mississippi experienced a drop, including JSU. Most community colleges in Mississippi have total enrollments over 10,000 students, which dwarfs all Universities, except Ole Miss and Mississippi State. I don't think it's an indication of "living above our means".

Dollars have been allocated and budgeted accordingly for athletics. Now, we've conjured speculation on here about spending, but that may not be the case at all.

Honestly speaking, it's still a big mess.

Boosted by increases at Southaven and other satellite campuses, enrollment at the University of Mississippi this fall increased for the 13th year in a row to a record 17,601.

However, Mississippi State University had an even larger increase and moved past Ole Miss to a total of 17,824 students, according to statewide figures.


The five other universities under the state board had enrollment decreases.

This fall's enrollments and the percentage declines are: Alcorn State, 3,200 (-12.8); Delta State, 4,064 (-0.7); Jackson State, 8,337 (-3.7); Mississippi University for Women, 2,365 (-0.6); Mississippi Valley State, 2,929 (-2.7).

Overall, the system has 71,161 students, a 209 gain, or 0.5 percent, from last fall.

I found an interesting story about Alcorn's AD and his last job at Eastern Washington. Here is part of the story.....

Eastern Washington University terminated the contract of athletic director Darren Hamilton late Thursday afternoon after less than seven months on the job.

There have also been complaints about Hamilton's bullying-style of management, poor communication skills, failure to listen and a lack of understanding of what the job entails, especially where fundraising is concerned.

Most athletic department employees refused to talk on the record for fear of losing their jobs. One said Hamilton once said he was vindictive "should anyone cross me."

Associate athletic directors Mike Allen and Pam Parks met with the president last week to discuss their concerns. This week, all the head coaches, as a group except for one who was out of town, went to the president.

Wow! :scared: Good luck Alcorn. :shame:
