How you to let go of anger????

I have tried that forgive and forget crap but that does not work. I know hate is not something we should have for people. But I can say with a clear mind that I hate this person, and regret ever meeting them.

Help a sister out...

And the crazy thing is I have forgave people who have done thing much worst then what this person did.

For me to hold on to anger takes to much energy. You have to make it up in your mind that you are not going to be angry and just let it go. But thats all up to you. If you keep re-palying to event or things that this person did to you then you will never let it go. Maybe you need to talk to this person and say whatever it is that they did. That may help you to let it go.

The best thing to do would probably be go to them and talk like Jelli said.

Here are some paraphrased verses to consider:

Matthew 5:43-45 "Love people who hurt & hate you. Anyone can love people who blesses them but it takes a good christian to love those who hurt you."

Matthew 6:14-15 "Forgive people so that your Father in Heaven can forgive you. If your attitiude toward your friend is 'Talk to the hand', than God's attitude toward you when you pray @ night may also be 'Talk to the hand!'"

Think about whatever wrong that people do to us....now compare it to all of the wrong that we've done against God in our lives. When you compare the two, God's attitude toward us should be 'talk to the hand' for the rest of eternity but thank God for mercy and grace. Try to show that guy the same mercy and grace God shows you.

p.s. Love is not a feeling, it's a command.

Anger and Hatred are 2 serious things. They are atributes we christian can not have. We must love everybody as Christ has Love us. No Matter What.

There is a story in the bible where Paul, I believe, ask "How can you love Christ who you have never seen, but hate your fellow man in which you see everyday?" You Cant.

Try to get over the fact that you are upset or hate thit person. Try to love that person no matter what they have done to you.

There is another story in the bible where "If you have a problem with a person, 1. you should talk it out. If you can not talk it out, get two witnesses to help you with the problem. Now, if you still have problems with this person, go before the church with the problem. If the person still has malice toward you, it is not your problem anymore. Therefore you are not in any violations."

What I am saying is try, to forgive this person if you can. If you cant forgive this person, Pray to God to give you the ability to forgive this person. He can do it.

:D

JSU Toi:

You have to continue to pray and ask God to give you the gift of forgiveness in your heart. I was very angry with someone not long ago that I considered a dear friend. It took every prayer that I could muster to God to ask him to deliver me from the hurt and anger that I felt toward this person. He delivered me and I had a talk with the person and I don't feel any animosity toward this person anymore, although she is angry with me now I don't feel anger toward her. Life is too short to have anger toward anyone no matter what they have done to you. God forgives us everyday of our life so we have to learn how to do the same.

You must....

Forgive even though its not humanly possible to forget.

Ditto to all of the above.

If you still feel like you can't forgive or you choose to habor the anger in the future just think about where you would be and how you would be now if God hadn't forgiven you for not ONE, but ALL your sins.

Makes whatever the person did to you all but disappear, doesn't it. Let it go girl. You're better than that. Pray and move on. Leave it with God. ;)

I generally don't have to worry about it because I don't stay upset for long. IF I do get angry, I simply take a timeout from the situation or find something else to put my mind on.

I am with Toi on this one... I am what you may call a grudge holder.. For the most part, I try to forget but sometimes it is hard..

Prayer changes things

I agree that you have to keep praying and seeking a closer relationship with God. Pray that God opens your heart to forgiving that person. It may take many prayers, but God will deliver you from this hatred and anger and give you the strength to forgive.

I remember two people in particular I have had to pray to forgive. One was a person I knew long time ago. It's been a long time since I've even seen that person (mainly cause we live in different states), but I know God has removed the resentment in my heart toward him. The other person is one of my aunts who gave me a particularly hard time growing up. I just did not understand why she would act the way she did. After joining a new church, I was inspired to pray about everything. So I kept asking God to keep me from resenting my aunt and soften her heart toward me. Now we get along very well!!

Truly, prayer changes things!!

Imagine if God held a grudge....

Now, the way to let it go is go to that person and discuss what he/she did to you. If it is too much to talk to him/her, write a letter. Either way, communicate why you were hurting. Then when that is done. Let it go. Stop taking so much energy to be mad. It is so much easier to smile and be happy.

Count your blessings. Then ask yourself if all your blessings are worth being angry at that person, much less HATING him.

I have been thinking about that. Everytime I wake up, I realize there is a greater force that allows me to wake up each morning. As my pastor said each day you wake up you have experienced a mini-resurrection. Every night before I go to sleep I pray that I can lose some of the junk out of my life. I can already see the difference in my outlook...
