Be serious with yourselves. How in the hell can you say you are preparing to compete nationally when your TOP team has NO games against the very groups they will compete with?

These are MEAC vs. PWC games for this year coming.

You will find that SOME teams actually are doing what they say .....

9/4 -- Howard at Holy Cross, Savannah St at Georgia Southern
9/18 -- North Carolina Central at Appalachian State
9/25 -- Delaware State at Coastal Carolina
10/2 -- Savannah St at Liberty, Howard at Furman
10/9 -- Savannah St. at Georgia State (1st year)
10/16 -- North Carolina Central at Georgia State
10/30 -- Old Dominion AT Hampton (Good job Hampton!)
11/6 -- Savannah St. at Old Dominion
11/20 -- Old Dominion at North Carolina Central

Underlined traditional FCS Powers.

Yet, the biggest and loudest proponents against the Legacy Bowl, Florida A&M and South Carolina State have this for non-conference games ....

9/2 -- FAMU at Miami (but FAMU doesn't need money)
9/4 -- SCSU at Georgia Tech (but SCSU doesn't need money)
9/11 -- Mississippi Valley at SCSU
9/18 -- Benedict at SCSU

It wasn't for lack of trying...As I stated earlier we tried to get CCU, Wofford and Elon on our scehdule for this coming season and things just didn't work out....

You keep making comments about money....Do you even know what the payout plan is for the Legacy Bowl?

We only have two OOC games due to MEAC expansion and TnSU is ALWAYS going to be on the schedule. Under Ken Riley, we played GaSouthern for quite a few years and got them a few times. After BJ started putting up bball scores on folks, they didnt want to play us. I would love to start this series again.

Oh, so now you're using the "they ain't playing fair excuse"?

Since 2000, South Carolina State is 0-9 against FCS PWC schools. Pough is 0-5 against them, plus he's winless against the PWC FBS schools. Perhaps it's Pough whose running.
There are too many non-MEAC FCS schools in your vicinity to not be able to play at least ONE of them every other year, so no one's buying the notion that those schools don't want to play you.

So again, how is Pough suddenly one of the best coaches in the nation, when he can't even beat a quality FCS school?
When you beat one of those schools, plus a quality SWAC team that's having a decent year, then you'll be given your dues, but please don't make claims that you're in the powerhouse category just yet.

Ok...let me break it down for the folks who ride the short bus....The last time we played them it was at their place....So this time we wanted them to come to Orangeburg......We need that home game...the problem was they were looking for another home game as well....the 2 sides couldn't come together....Do you understand Bill?:retard:

Dude, why you want to sit here and lie? Since 1984, FAMU is 2-7 against Ga. Southern. Riley was only 2-4 against them. LOL!!
Why would they run from you? Come on bruh, you can do better than that. It's more likely that it's the other way around.

You should've gotten that arranged before the first game. It seems that your leadership rides the short bus.

Still though, there are several quality FCS schools in your area. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that under Pough's tenure, he hasn't played many FCS schools for some reason.

As far as JSU is concerned, we know what our record was last year. It's you who are blowing your record way out of proportion.

Our AD does ride the short bus...But hopefully she won't be around much longer....I even spoke to a coach and he said we had a FCS team back out at the last minute and we were left scrambling for another game.....the bottom line is we aren't afraid to play anybody in the FCS....How many other rFCS schools have you guys been scheduling/trying to schedule?

The last SoCon team y'all played was Ga Southern in the playoffs (1985 - uh...25 years ago) and they left sperm burns on your neck....:lol::lol::lol:

The issue is that you guys are claiming to be something that you never were, so the onus is on you guys to prove that you're who you claim you are.
You claim that Pough is this and that, but when you look at the numbers, his record says otherwise.

What are SWAC records against PWC's since 2000? I'm not taking a side; Just Sayin...

I wouldn't say that SCSU is a powerhouse either, but you can't be two-faced about slamming what they're trying to do when OUR track record against other FCS schools outside of the HBCU circle is relatively the same, if not worse. Why aren't OUR coaches and programs scheduling some of these squads, since we use them to legitimize what we're trying to do...

It's that fact that makes all of this "MEAC think they too good for the SWAC" commentary (and vice versa) inanely stupid.

This has to do with economics for the SWAC. You and the MEAC folks brought up playing FCS schools in the playoffs. The SWAC does what it does to put money in our programs.
Were simply saying that we can play them and make money at the same time.

We have never played/scheduled a SOCON team in the regular season.
That was the playoffs and we had nothing to do with the matchup. Think before you post. Why in the hell would we schedule a SOCON team on the other side of the United States when we got at least 13 FCS schools within 500 miles of Jackson Mississippi in Louisana and Texas. :lol: It is you that is on here talking like ya'll world beaters and how teams don't want a peice of ya'll. Better question is since SCSU is all that is when was the last time ya'll beat a SOCON team?

SCSU LOST to these recent SOCON teams.
Appy State in 2009 and 2008.
Wooford in 2008, 2004, 2003, 2002
Citidel in 2001, 2000, 1999
Furman in 1998.

Again.
SCSU has lost every game against these teams PWC teams that "don't want a peice of ya'll" since 1997. :lmao:

You know we good...always. But I ain't gonna lie dawg. That bullsnit about the SWAC not wanting to compete nationally gives me the drizzles! Folk (other conferences) seem to want to make it that we should forego our traditional Thanksgiving weekend games just to participate in some games that don't make any money for us. I bet you that if it was one of the Darling schools from one of the FCS darling conferences they would make an exception. Ain't nobody that craps out of meat azz can convince me that if this was Delaware/Villanova, Montana/Montana State, App State/Georgia Southern moving a game to that Thanksgiving weekend, the NCAA wouldn't make changes. I just don't believe they would handle it the same way...

I said that it's stupid for ANY of us to be going back and forth about this foolishness when the quality of football in BOTH conferences is piss-poor. I'm a SWAC kid through and through; I like the idea of the Legacy Bowl too. What I DON'T like is the product that we collectively put out on the field in comparison to the other folks in FCS that have the same parameters to work with.

If you're going to put on something that's going to be in competition with what the NCAA is doing, the competition needs to be as good (or better) than them. Right now it ain't even close collectively.

Exposure can be a double-edged sword; It's great for either league when the product on the field is solid. The payout is great.

It would be even better if our programs did a better job of managing and maximizing resources toward the end of being competitive (and better) than everybody else in FCS. That means spending some of that money we love to talk about to get folks in the right positions to build winning, successful programs. Collectively, we aren't doing that; We're more concerned with getting that payout than using it to put back into the product.

the bottom line is, until the product on the field changes for the better, our perception in the eyes of the pubilc (more importantly, the recruits that could or would be interested in playing at our institutions) aren't going to change much.

The Legacy Bowl is great, but I'd be pissed if I were a coach that had to recruit using this as a tool (as opposed to playing against great comp for a National Championship) if our quality wasn't comparable to other places in the FCS. It can't be all about the payola all the time. You've got to put folks in the right places to maximize the resources you get.

Heck, isn't your athletic department struggling to keep programs afloat? The bottomline is....r-e-v-e-n-u-e.

Using FCS playoffs as a recruitment tool is way overhyped. Players just want to play, get an education and if possible, get a chance to go to the NFL or CFL.
The FCS playoff system is not all folks make it out to be. If it was, why hasn't the NCAA FBS system caught on?
It doesn't seem to be effecting their bottomline much if any.

A ton of folks on the FBS side (particularly fans, and programs from outside the superconferences) want a playoff-style system...the reason there ISN'T a playoff style system is because the BCS is a separate entity from the NCAA. The NCAA essentially signed the process over to them to manage.

The schools and conferences involved are the folks that make the money. It's definitely more about money than the spirit of competition, which is why alot of fans hate the system. Truth be told, a playoff system would be even more effective in generating "revenue" for everybody involved, not just the conferences that have the fattest pockets to start with.

Playing against top competition is never an "overhyped" draw for a recruit. If anything, it gives the kid more of an opportunity to showcase himself on the FCS level. If that were the case, HBCU's shouldn't have a problem getting comparable talent. the results on the field and the quality of play say otherwise.
