How Many Artificial Turf Fields?

With GSU announcing plans to install artificial turf on its football field, how many SWAC schools will now play on such fields at home?
 



Four right now have turf in their stadiums

PV
Southern
Alabama State
Alabama A&M

Grambling will be the fifth.
 
I don't see any other teams going to turf. J-State's field is well groomed. TSU shares with a pro-soccer team. Alcorn and PB is good. Valley.....
 
Our grass field was very well groomed. We just went with turf to host high school games.
 
Someone educate me. I understand the benefits associated with artificial turf, due to the lack of maintenance required compared to natural surfaces, but it still requires maintenance right? Isn't treatment for germs (and stuff like that) required from time to time? If so, how often is this done. Doesn't it require special equipment?

Yes it does require maintenance and special equipment to make sure the field stays in top condition.

A gator w/sled to drag the field, keeping the rubber pellets spread evenly is pretty much it. Paint to keep the logos/sponsors fresh. Sideline areas should be watched for germ issues but the elements usually take care of that... rain, heat, cold

This is what I suspected. This company has the market in Louisiana including Ruston High.

Hellas has designed and installed turf for professional, college and high school sports groups, including the Dallas Cowboys, the Jacksonville Jaguars and several Texas high school teams.
 
I got a question for the new field at Gram.....Will that fix the drainage issue? And that is not for smack purposes. It is a former lake.

First it was not a lake but a Peach Orchard. If you all read the article it will show that.

Also I am a Deputy Assessor for the Parish; our GIS Office retrieved these images; with that in mind here is 1955 Aerial of where the football stadium would be. Also, in speaking with a number of people who lived in Grambling during that time they will tell you that there was not a pond there. I am so damn sick of that rumor or lie being stated.

This should resolve the issue with pictures and factual documentation from the article noting what the site was prior to the football field being constructed. Article stated Peach Orchard, 1955 Photo does not show water but an empty area that appears to be in the process of being cultivated.

I'm not trying to argue. Just hope they elevate that field level a little bit. Due to the drainage in that flood zone.
