How do you feel about being photographed while holding a drink?

After college, the first thing I did was scrub my social media accounts for any picture with alcohol in it. Since then, I have typically avoided being photographed with a drink because I know how petty the federal government can be during background checks. I know two people who didn't get in the FBI because of some old myspace photos and my first shot at an interim clearance was denied over some college foolishness.

However, outside of the federal government, I don't think anyone really cares. I really just avoid it because I am a little paranoid still and have become more conscious of my public image.
 
I don't drink anymore. Yet, when I did drink I tried my best not to be photographed with alcohol. Now there are two instagram pics I have to delete.
 



While in the Army before 2008 (FB account activation and other SM platforms), it was cool to take pics at events sipping on beer or having a drink - after 2008 and prior to retirement, it became a no-go. Today, no problem and you are so right, federal government is a different animal when it comes to public perception.

Not a big deal as most folks in Corp America partake all the time. You grown so unless every photo you take is filled with drinks and debauchery you should be fine. I try not to be but it happens.

What's funny to me is the same folks in corporate American proclaiming to not employees taking pictures with drinks in their hand are the same one telling coworkers about going out for drinks at happy hours.
 
Nope. It's a no no for me. This is why I dont do social media. Now when I retire I'm gonna smoke bud and party until I check out. Lol
 
In the private sector, I wouldn't worry about it... Feds are petty. A close friend got a clearance pulled for calling a childhood friend who was in prison for a few felonies

Yep. The Gov is a trip. I got Navy clearances I have to keep. So I don't allow too many photographs at all. LOL.
 
Yeah it isn't the best idea to have any foolishness on your social media pages. I tell folks my age all the time to not post their gov name on social media period...but you have folks that do that plus they engage in sketchy behavior. You won't get jobs like that lol

Yeah, I kept aliases all through college. Now, you can find Anthony Hales Jr. online pretty easily but I did that push down that situation I got into on campus down in google search
