That depends on if I was asked for the advise. If not, that person is in my prayers for spiritual direction.
But if asked, I share my own testimonies in my Christian walk. If the Lord can keep me, especially during the times when I knew GOD and still didn't want to be kept by Him, then I know He's able.
The Book of Psalms is a GOOD book to reference in "falling" or being lost but yet still having the favor of God.

Attempt convince them, that Christ is willing and able to accept them. And whatever they are going through, that their problem (s) are not bigger than the problem solver (Christ).
There are some great lessons in the bible that we all can relate to.
The Prodigal Son [It?s never to late to return to your Father]
The Lost Sheep [He?s {Jesus} is still searching]
Peter walking on the water [Maintaining your focus]
One thing that does more damage than anything else, that is ?sometimes? individuals start preaching about individuals going to Hell, if they do not change. But, when a person fall away / back slide, that is not the time to preach about them going to Hell. I have found it better to talk about going to Heaven and other lesson on encouragement.
