How do we treat our former players and coaches

Mike Hayes is doing well for himself last I heard he was working at the port down in Morgan City. You can't expect former players to make it to every damn game they have lives too,children, wives, mistresses, etc. Bighead Pete was at the Alabama State or Valley game this past season can't remember exactly which one.

I always wondered if that problem was unique to "us" or HBCUs in general.
Everytime I inquire about one of the two (SMH) local alumni associations, I get bad reviews from alums that had all kinds of issues like that.
That ish needs to stop.

negative has been bred into us indirectly......we have been taught to down our own instead of others in alot of cases as I remember a local radio host (a black, PWC grad) say the local NFL press conference will start late because two brothas are running the show (both PWC grads)...he said that ON THE AIR ON A WHITE STATION...:SMH:
and we don't do much to shake the image when we get in charge by the way we conduct business
across the fence, most blacks will not criticize the PWC unless its extreme racism as they won't have the general black support in their corner since we're a minority in those places...you always hear about financial aid at our schools but no one ever complains about the PWC when people have the same problems...
but one thing, I rarely see blacks back at the PWC FCS games as you see more at our homecomings, etc.

It’s puzzling to me, why some kids are raised on HBCU Campuses, but select to attend a PWC, when the HBCU have provided for their families. I reckon it goes a question of priorities and values. Some may feel if they attend a PWC their opportunities to get drafted are increased.
However, we know that’s true by looking at the history of the professional programs, using DRC as an example.
I am not surprised, a few years ago King Dunlap, decided to go to Auburn, he was “ok†as a High School player and was not drafted high in the pros. Dunlap Sr., played at TN State and had a brief pro career. And there were the sons of Anthony Mason. Mason, played at TN State and had an outstanding pro career.
Oh well!

B.Lee, Mark Fredrick, and Chris Browne with Mark Orlando at the coaches convention, Bighead. They coach at D-2 Lincoln. Again how is B.Lee going to be at SU games when he has to coach.

I would love to see more of our former players on the sidelines at the games like bigger programs. I can speak for JSU I do see alot of former guys at the games but I would still like for them to be closer to the program like Power 5 programs our AD has made it damm near impossible for stuff like that to happen now...unless you are an old head who is in the loop...

I know for a fact athletes will give back, if a staff person was given the responsibility of keeping in touch with former players and let them know the school cares; they will give back to the program. As long as we think they should give back, it is not going to happened, but if I sell you a season ticket and you give me some dollars back, I would have a special hospitality for you every home game. Most people want to feel wanted and appreciated. It is important to have the right people in place to know what it takes to get folks to donate. We all know that if someone else do all the work we will be there, so pay someone to do the work and hold them accountable for how much they can raise.
