Hostile Environment Fans/ Crazy HBCU Student Section (Experiences/Stories)

But gram's memorial gym was just as bad. Students sat next to the court and talked much trash during the games.

Some crowds aren't like they use to be.

I remember SU sold about 200 ticket for the game in memorial gym, they got to Grambling and couldn't get in the gym because student took their seat, they went back to BR pissed

Ya'll have her scared to come to Mumford. Mumford isn't bad at all, just don't come in there talking trash with SU fans. lol

You wouldn't go to any game in the SEC then, because there fans are 100 times worse.

Nah man...Mumford is/was worse...SEC just getting bad per say...but back in the day Mumford use to be on...hostile fun all in one...
It done ease up a bit, but back in them 80s and 90s..I know 90s..you coming in there cheering and shaking yo ass when your team scored wasn't happening LOL...

I've seen police come and get ppl from outta a section because they stood up and smiled a bit LOL..them SU folks got on they ass...you better 'know' someone already at SU and be sitting by them if you decided to cheer and talked trash

But BB don't let that stop you from coming in 2015!!, come on and enjoy yourself Lol..

Back in the 80's, SU folks definitely went by the motto, "we might lose the game , but we won't lose the fight". I still remember when Rufus Porter and some other football players travelled to Alcorn to watch SU taken on the Alcorn Braves in basketball. They had stop the game because them fools were out on center court throwing down. I believe Rufus was from Baton Rouge.

No bruh

I thought the motto was "We may have lost the game, but our band won and is better" LOL...I know in the late 80s as a kid I heard that shat..

That might be true, but in the 80's when SU had a large number of students from New Orleans Lower 9th Ward mixed in with Scotlandville people, it didn't take much for something to jump off.

I was at that game  . It was Rufus, Micheal Ball, Chris Scott and crew  . Me , my dad, moma Jag, and Mr. Cade rode together. I remember because Moma Jag cooked the best steak I ever had before the game on a grill. Those were the days.

I can give you a better one then that. I remember when Rufus made this dude from Palmetto, LA jump clean out of his second floor window in Junior Men's Dormitory over a fight between their girlfriends. What I heard, when the dude realized that Rufus wasn't going to let him run out his dorm room door, instead of getting his azz whipped, his best option was to dive out the window from the second floor in broad daylight when folks were crisscrossing the campus in-between classes. And to top it off, this dude landed in some hedges next to the dorm, which resulted in him getting cut up on one side of his body. He immediately jump to his feet and saw this guy by the name of Terry Warren from New Orleans who was known to keep a gun on him. He went over to Terry Warren and asked him to borrow his gun because there was some fool he needed to get out of his dorm room. I believe Terry Warren didn't know what to think after witnessing this fool fall out of a second floor window and then ask to borrow his gun. Sad thing, Terry Warren was later killed on SU's campus over a supposedly bad drug deal.

The game we played against JSU in which we made it on ESPN. The game was close until "The Hit" happened and all hell broke loose on the field

Then JSU proceeded to hang 66 on us :(

We have to get Mumford back to this environment. Today's players and coaches would be scared for their lives. lol

Dude, JSU folks would laugh at this nonsense while others would crumble with fear. We took your best shot and still kicked ass and said "GO HOME" too.
That was a nice video though.

Dude, please. Yall don't scare nobody.

Never had a bad or scary moment at Mumford, always enjoyed myself. I have heard the stories from JSU and Alcorn peeps about how SU folks are, it can get wild lol

I remember in 2007 wen JSU took over Robinson Stadium, JSU was like 4-1 and Grambling was like 1-4 and JSU was chanting "WE RUN THE SWAC", it was hostile environment for Grambling in Grambling, well until the game started and Bruce Eugene got the ball

First game I attended once I came back from deployment, crushing loss lol

Su has the most hostile fans which is why I refuse to go to any game in Baton Rouge. ..hell I hate when they come to the jack. Lol jsu can make certain environments hostile depending on who you play. I think in 2011, mvsu wanted to win soooo bad fam, they started cussing n ish and booing us. I'm like, it ain't that serious b lmao

SU fans aren't bad at all. Most of them are cool but disrespect is another thing. You don't go to anyone's stadium and disrespect them. The JSU fans I sat next to were cool with the exception of a few JSU students who ran to the police after starting schit lmao

I'm sure they realized they were about to get their cap twisted back straight.

I just read in the other thread...what was done to an Alcorn player by the SU student section LOL smh..I remember that cornball running over there too...

BB said SU use to water the field Lmao...
ASU clock situation LOL

The LS cat dude from JSU stated somebody pulled a gun out on him smh..

I can't remember the band that came to Mumford..but they poured their souls out on the field, they did the best they could and gave a good performance IMO...man when I say the fuggin whole student section and some of the HOME side regulars after the band finished, stood up and did the whole "Thumbs Up..thumbs down" routine LMAOOO.....that was the 1st time I've seen some shat like that done before to somebody

I would say from traveling to FAMU..only going to Bragg stadium that one time when I was a kid...them dudes were ruthless, I thought we had a bad student section and hostile crowd, but they matched our intensity LOL...them Florida cats were talking trash right back to our azzez, where most fans would just smile or shake their heads...

Spill the beans of the crazy stuff yall did or experienced from the opposing fans...

It was either 1974 or 1975 after the Alcorn-SU football game in Mumford. I was in the "Sounds-of-Dynomite" and we had our usual after game battle. After about 45 minutes, they cut the lights out and Griff told us to pack it up and let's go. We had to march from the stadium thru the campus to the old gym where we had changed clothes. About half way back, all of a sudden we were bombarded with bottles, bricks and rocks. We ran to the gym, did not change clothes and our buses had to pull up to the door one-by-one so we could load up. We all were laying down until we left campus because we thought they would shoot in the bus or continue to throw bricks. We left with one injury; one young lady had a knot on her head the size of a baseball.:upset:

I'm sure they realized they were about to get their cap twisted back straight.

Please. You guys know better than that. Now what other school told you to "GO HOME" in front of a packed crowd, THEN talked noise in the process at YOUR stadium? That was a good day....no, a GREAT day.:clap:

I'm sure y'all made sure there was an army of cops y'all can hide behind. :emlaugh:

:lmao: Right. We sit right next in the pack of the visiting fans and everything was good. Friendly trash talk, nobody got out of line. They probably talked noise after the stadium cleared out lmao

Unlike some su folks, JSU folks are law-abiding citizens who like having a good time and kicking ass in the process while talking smack. Is there something wrong with that? That's exactly what we do at ole Mumfy.

No, we talked trash throughout and when The BOOM crunk up "GO HOME". You know it cause you were there.:snicker:

The only person that seemed to have left early and didn't hear The BOOM chant "GO HOME" at Mumfy was JR (so he says.):lol:

The worst hooligans I have encountered have been the mumford thugs and JSU travel thugs ya'll about even which is why I enjoy being in the stands when your teams get they ass whooped!

Lol. I got some mumford stories...Mofos down there are crazy. I think everyone who spends a certain amount of time in BR get a little crazy.
