Hoover vs John Curtis TONIGHT

John Curtis may be head/shoulders above e'rone in 2A. But that's a tough
district. Take JC out the picture, and you still have undefeated Donaldsonville, undefeated St. Charles, and St James at 4-1.

Nice,

John Curtis has been in and out of the USA Today Super 25 for at least the last 10 years.......

I remember then cracking the top 20 when I was in high school in the late 80s/early 90s.

Actually, E ST Johns, Bastrop and West Monroe are equally as good as JC. Neville, Rayville and Ruston can also compete.
I don't know about any of the other teams you mentioned here but Bastrop is scary. Last night I watched the replay of their game against Ruston and they have some serious talent at Bastrop. I could be wrong but I dont think any team in the state has what Bastrop has and that includes John Curtis and West Monroe.

Correct. They have always been there and in some years finished in the Top 10.

Ruston and Rayville? Ruston was a power back when Chick Childress was there, but haven't heard any talks of a Ruston power recently. I'm from Monroe, so when did Rayville come up? I heard that they had a good team last year, but to say that they can compete on that level, I don't know..... Maybe you know something that I don't know.

Rayville hired the old Neville coach five years ago and they are right there with Bastrop. Rayville is a OL paradise and they have one of the top Quarterbacks in the state and has been producing awesome running backs for many years now. Do you remember Rosey Potts, and Richard Murphy at LSU.

J, and that's what I'm talking about, as solid a program they are it shouldn't be just the last 10 years, they're great dayum near every year dating back to the late 70's, and are really just getting their due on a yearly basis on a national scale.

I've seen teams like Shaw, St. Aug, West Monroe, Evangel, Salmen, West Jefferson and John Ehret, and one of those Lake Charles schools all ranked in that USA Today Poll, and for good reason, when Curtis was left off of it, and they were steamrolling people in those same time frames, winning the state championship in the same year when a lot of those schools slipped in the playoffs.

NICE

I knew it has been a minute and that is why I said "at least" 10 years. Actually, John Curtis is the reason I got interested in the USA Today poll. I use to love to listen to J.T. Curtis do the Friday night football report in New Orleans.

Nice,

Those Otis Washington led Purple Knights from St. Augustine were something else in the 70's. After desegregation, St. Aug gave the traditional predominately white high schools fits. Hence, they were very pleased to see Otis leave............They made all of black Louisiana high school football enthusiast very proud. Many people thought that Otis would succeed Eddie Robinson. Eddie hung around too long, Otis was a hot commodity, Southern needed to win in the worse way, and I'm sure you know the rest of the story.........
