BIGCAT3000 said:Don't mistake disagreement for fear. If people don't believe or don't want to hear about a religion that they don't believe in that doesn't make them afraid.
Most people don't like to associate with people that differ philisophically from themselves. People tend to gravitate to other like-minded people.
That's not fear, that's human nature.
For one to feel that he has blasphemed another religion, he must first acknowledge the other as a religion. Now I feel that religion by definition does not recognize the legitimatcy of any other "religion". Most religions view other religions as possible converts.yazeed1906 said:Not referring to those people, question was gear towards the general masses.
To disagree with a thing, one must be intelligent enough to understand, comprehend both sides of an issue. To know only one side and blaspheme (sp?) the other side is a mark of ignorance and prejudice. There is nothing wrong with ignorance and predjudice...but it is what it is. The real reason people like to gravitate towards other like minded people is because it's a comfort zone. There is no growth there, but some don't want to grow. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I think that your premise is flawed. I do not think that people fear persons of other religions. There is a big difference between fearing something and considering it total nonsense.yazeed1906 said:Why do you think people, for the most part, fear people and other religions like the do?
Respect. But what is another religion? Is there such a thing? If you feel your religon is the only way, then is another religion, a religion? I respec all, Ihave studied with muslims; Mormons; Jehovah's Witnessess etc. I feel that if I need information before making such a momumental decision. That information leads me to believe in christianity and christianity only.yazeed1906 said:GOOD Comment and observation. It kills me when Christians talk about Jews as if they dirty. That is one of the things VERY different about Islam. We are COMMANDED to respect both Judaism and Christianity.
Very good comment.
Good points. I KNOW I am NOT a possible convert to ANY other religion. :angel2:UAPB-LIONS-AM&N said:For one to feel that he has blasphemed another religion, he must first acknowledge the other as a religion. How can one plant grow in two pots simultaneously. I, for one, normally find that most conversations with a person of a different viewpoint often seem to argumentative, competitive, and antagonistic & I don't particularly care for those types of conversations.yazeed1906 said:The real reason people like to gravitate towards other like minded people is because it's a comfort zone. Fort, I have rarely found others hostile. Maybe because I wasn't. i went through a period where I thought "I only know what I have been taught as a child. I want to know if there are other views." I visited and studied with an open mind. Maybe they saw a potential convert...and maybe I was. But with that NEW knowledge, my view on christianinty was confirmed.Fortitude said:Good points. I am sure that what you say is so. Also beware that one often sees what he is looking for. You or another muslim started the thread "Stupid woman" I think that is what he was looking for. One person responded "While you were praying you should have prayed for her. I think he anticipated such a reaction.yazeed1906 said:I don't. I find that they do one of two things strengthen me or change me. Just like how some people on this very board have tried to shot me down, show their disgust for islam (in both overt and covert fashions) ...it does nothing but strengthen my faith and let me know that I am on the right path for me. Everyone has a journey to take...what is right for one may or may not be right for others. Someone can be argumentative and that is cool. One can even be competitive and in some cases, that is fine. But when a conversation crosses over to disrespect and "hands over ears like a kid" ..."I can't hear your...nanna nanna nanna!!" Well, that's just too much.
