I recently found out the builder of my home went out of business. Reading on the internet the owner was doing some shady business, not paying vendors, contractors, etc.. I closed on 01/01/08 and I know I am under warranty for certain things in the house, etc.

I have already contacted the DA office and they will send me a compliant form

Have any of you dealt with this kind of situation? I want to see what I need to do to make sure my warranty is still active and covered

Did you have the home built or was it previously owned? For previously owned homes the warranty is purchased by the buyer from an independent company. I am interested because I just closed (18 dec). Home warranties on newer houses are a scam. The furnance or air are about the worse that can go wrong. That costs about $2,500. You pay much more in a few years. A friend bought a warranty. The furnance went out, then the other major item went out. I had her to cancel the policy immediately. Any other problems she could pay out of pocket. The major items were now new.
