Yall have only played Jackson teams. L, yall beat them like that every year. Let's see how for real P-vine is when one of those lil' country schools pay a visit.

Oxford 16
Provine 13
:shame:

Year after year after year, yall manage to drop the ball.

I smell Clarksdale vs Wayne County for 4A State Championship. I must say that Clarksdale is doing a hellava job in the playoffs. Since joining 4A in 1997, they have won 3 state titles, 5 North state titles, a 22-4 playoff record and all of this with 2 different coaches. Why Coach Bell doesn't recruit from this area, because he is losing all of these quality Delta boys to Miss St and Ole Miss. Some of these kids that are playing are seeds of Jacksonians.....SMH.

Hater!!!

Why did we have to travel to them anyway? I read that there were many penalties called on us in the 1st half. :shame:

C'mon now! You knew they were going to cheat a little bit! Actually, I root for Provine when the playoffs start. I just always know how it will end up- the Rams falling flat on their faces to some hicks. Last year it was Noxubee County. A couple of years ago it was Pearl, a team yall beat during the regular season.

I never did understand who gets to host the games in the playoffs. I've heard so many different reasons. I'll have to e-mail Ennis Proctor.

Slow down, there. Noxubee Cty. is tough. Clarksdale don't have "it" this year, IMHO. And the South is a toss up with Brookhaven, West Jones and WC.

That's bull. Kids aren't turning down the SEC for the SWAC, and there's nothing their Jacksonian parents can do to change that. We don't lose them, they are taken from us. This isn't the 1960's anymore.

And as far as recruiting, who has C'dale had worth signing since Bell has been here? No one. RB/WR/DB Brandon Strong (who we are recruiting) is aiight but I doubt we offer to him. We are recruiting RB/WR Carlos Kern, too. Who has come out of there in the past two years? The past four years, excluding Darren Williams, Kenny Kern and Brandon Downing?

And historically, we have recruited Clarksdale.........Tarnaka Counselor, Mandrell McGregory, Destry Wright.

Since I live in Oxford, I went to this game. Worst officiating in history. those refs must've been from Baton Rouge. Also, Provine's offense is to remedial. They basically ran 3 plays all night. And the lineman were too short and fat. Overall, the team was fast, but sloppy and undiciplined. This wasn't the Provine team I'm used to seeing.

Yeah, I bet they ran "Red Right 46 Counter Trap" all night. LOL :swink: We ran it at least 40% of the time when I was there. It was our bread and butter play. :smh:

You see, that works in the city, where the teams know what's coming but can't do anything to stop it. But when you step outside of Jackson, you have to mix it up. You're playing against kids who have been running their school's system since 6th grade, so they have the playbook down pat and already have team chemistry by the time they're in the 9th. When their juniors and seniors it's second nature. Plus them country boyz is big!

Well, Nox. Cty maybe tough, but it is hard to win in Clarksdale period. If Nox. Cty., win thats cool. But as far as the recruiting statement goes, if these parents are so concern like many on this board pretend to be about us losing our quality black athletes to these white schools, there is some sort of influence these parents can have. No, the parent can't make the decision for these kids, but they can influence them. And yes, historically JSU have been recruiting C'dale but Bell isn't now. Plus, my comment wasn't limited to Clarksdale, I said the Delta period. A lot of these athletes can go farther than what the stats on paper say, you just have to see them play. Trumaine McBride is someone JSU should've had their hands on.

Thinking we can recruit the same kids as the SEC and be successful even 25% of the time just because their parents are alumni is simply a pipe dream. You can put Trumaine McBride in that same class as Dapoo, Mario Haggan and Terrance Metcalfe.......all were blue-chippers.

In 2001, we were recruiting a QB from the Delta, the same high school as Robert Kent.....his mom is a Jacksonian........we were on him hard and he signed with Ole Miss.

And how do you know if he is or isn't recruiting in the Delta? Just because we didn't sign anyone from there?

And as far as him not recruiting there, I just gave you the names of some players we are looking at at C'dale HS alone, so what are you talking about? Eddie Hicks........there's another name. Sheesh.

Bruh, re-read my post. I said these parents should have some type of influence, not make the total decision. You right, I don't know if he is recruiting everywhere in the Delta, but when these local newspapers do their stories, most of the time JSU is not even mentioned as an option for continuing their athletic career. Either we don't appeal to these athletes, or we not recruiting hard enough?

All in all, I am saying that there is an abundance of talent in the Delta period that JSU needs to get after.

Any typical parent would influence their child to make the decision that's best for them. And I read the same local newspapers, and all they interview are blue-chip kids, i.e. kids who have I-A offers. Players w/ a host of I-A offers will hardly entertain any offer from a SWAC school, and I don't blame them. Hell, half the time the only offer they have is Coahoma CC or MS Delta CC b/c their grades suck.

Bell wanted Ken Cox, but his grades were horrible. Would you be convinced if we recruited and signed a whole class of props from Humphreys County?

Nope. I was just saying that there wasn't any signage of him recruiting there. If he is, so be it. Just doesn't seem that way. I agree with you on the Blue Chips.
