I see it like this. To build up their reserve funds, they probably told Hughes that they will give him the $50k buyout package and then would re-hire him at a lesser salary, unless he decides to go somewhere else, they would hire another person at the lesser salary. Remember, this will be the IHL Board decision.

They have to find some way to buildup those lost funds. An extra $100k to $200k in coaches salaries is a good start. By cutting Hughes salary by $100k annually would bring him somewhere near the average in FCS. Something is definitely not right about what he did.
 



Man after thinking about it, I understand Hughes. I mean how would y'all feel if you found out they were voiding your contract to give you a pay cut. Then they are taking away the comp cars and giving him one of the maintenance dept trucks to ride in. On top of that he found out they were cutting the recruiting budget and that when viewing game film they will now be using their personal cell phones to breakdown film because they had to pawn the video equipment. That's enough to make anyone break. Had he known they were broke he would have never signed up for this shit.

He was reading TP 's posts about all that talent and got euphoric. He now realizes the difference between facts and wild exaggerations. Maybe he wants out now before things get too bad.
