Midnight Hour-JSU 84'

SMH...
That was SU.
I'm gonna wait til the midnight hour..

That was our closing song on what is now called the 5th Quarter. When the other band started leaving or when the stadium turned the lights out on us and it was our turn, we cranked it up! Ohh! yeah!!

I believe 87 was the first year to play that....

No, '86 when FAMU came to SU for the 1st time in years... We did the L Drill with it, which we hadn't done before that since the very early '80s. We had worked on Doc for weeks for that song hoping we would have it by JSU week. But, we finally got our wishes for FAMU after a week off after the TnSU game in Detroit.

Candy - SU - 1986

That one came out in the Spring, so we didn't play it. We had the Pledge Line sing it in the cafeteria, because one of them was called Honey. So, they song, "they call him Honey!!!".

Though we would have if it was the Fall, because Roy wrote some Cameo for ya ... :-)

This is one of the best and sharpest ideas in a long time. Man, I'm getting some hella memories thinking of some of our (SU's), TxSUs, FAMU's, TnSU's, JSU's songs over the years.

Now, to be obedient and follow the instructions...

One song at a time...the only exception...we blow all night!!!

I'm going with the first song that I heard another College Band play that let me know I and the rest of our SU trumpets and band were going to have to bring all we had that night....

Torture - TxSU - in Houston in 1984

The upperclassmen had been asking for it all band camp and the week of TxSU, but a certain influential arranger convinced Doc the song was going down on the charts, so it wasn't written. When Doc heard TxSU he asked, "What is that". The band all responded "Torture" - the song we've been asking for. He turned to Mr. Baskins and said "Write It". The rest of our schedule caught hell from us blowing it on them after that... :-)

TxSU blew the snot of that song, especially those Tuba's and Trumpets.

Since some of ya'll have been playing around with "Talkin' Out The Side of Your Neck", I'll make you all put your arrangement of it up and become TxSU in '86 and crank up the original and most impressive to date "Talkin' Out The Side of Your Neck".
Whew!!!

Brace yourself... I'm about to bring the house straight down...

"Da Show" - 1985 - SU

Another one those originals that will probably never to matched.
