Here's a nice little article in the Baton Rouge's newspaper The Advocate that they did on Darren Bedell. He really didn't want the job until Doc got him to do it and he still lives in New Orleans and commutes to Baton Rouge. He also teaches at his old high school Landry-Walker High School, which he attended O.P. Walker High School before they merged L.B. Landry High School and O.P. Walker High School on the West Bank of New Orleans. It would take a lot to get him to relocate to Texas.

Then Assistant Directors Lawrence Jackson and Carnell Knighten recommended Bedell. “I never wanted to do it,” Bedell says, laughing. “They had to wrestle me into Doc’s office.

And knowing Bedell personally as an Que, they probably did literally wrestled him into Doc's office with a beer in his hand. I bet he told Doc, let me finish my beer first before y'all get me to do anything else. LOL!!!!
