HBCUs need to come together

Get Ready,

Jackson State and the other HBCU institutions you mention could solve this problem by moving to the FBS level in football (i.e. join the SunBelt). In fact, Jackson State could move its football program to the FBS level as an independent, similar to Notre Dame, while the rest of your athletic programs could remain in the SWAC or the OVC.

This is exactly what I would love to see JSU do. We need to go independent, especially in football, so that we can have a good competitive schedule across the board. We can still play 5 SWAC games and spread the remaining 6 to FCS D2 and an FBS school. We wouldnt have to play the Texas SWAC schools of which we have no interest in playing. This is how to get better. We can not get better if all we want to do watch this mess every week:

Its time for all of us to move on and join a leage more conducive to each school. D1 aint for everybody

10) Mississippi Valley SWAC $4,182,130 $4,182,130 $2,423,152 57.9%

***This can't be; JSU is incredibly more financially stable than anyone in the SWAC and Ready Ready wants and expects them to go independent because they are distinguishable. :emlaugh:

.

Schools like TennSt FAMU JSU Hampton and about 2 others could compete better if other HBCUs weren't diluting the talent. Not only are we competing with each other for talent but we are now competing with PWCs on the FCS level plus mid major schools. BCF would do itself a big favor if some schools would admit they don't have a chance a really ain't trying. In addition to competing with other schools our own alums don't send our most talented players to HBCUs

Let's see how Jsu fairs financially against teams Ready Ready wants to have an alliance and run away with:

Florida A&M MEAC $10,148,484 $11,237,523 $5,845,148 57.6%
TN. State Ohio Valley $10,925,664 $10,719,239 $7,875,861 72.1%
S. Carolina St. MEAC $9,899,545 $9,899,545 $7,472,312 75.5%
Jackson State SWAC $6,909,322 $6,909,322 $3,804,250 55.1% :emlaugh:

Perhaps with the additional travel with Ready's new friends the rich state of Mississippi will subsidize those additional traveling expenses that they will inevitably incur.....No wait, the Blue Bengal Organization will handle it. :emlaugh:

Big time... lol

Not Jsu, they are about to become an independent according to Ready. Kind of like the Notre Dame of HBCU(s) :emlaugh:

When u look at the numbers SU and Gram had the less institutional support as they were less reliant on student fees and state money.

Which Texas SWAC school's band is that?

Never said that was a Texas school. Do you want to see the mess Texas schools put on the field?
Im sure you dont. Yall just as ghetto and you know it. Thats only a part of the small picture. A school
like Texas Southern might thrive at D2. Over your history you have been an embarrassment at D1. You would
actually do yourself a favor by voluntarily going D2. But then again, if TSU keeps turning in those 811 APR scores and keeps
having CharlesMac as your AD the NCAA will make that decision for you.

Why wont they end the nightmare of trying to compete at a level thats just not made for them. The state of Texas hates them and their few graduates dont care much for them either.

Let's look at Ready Ready's theory and determine how much love Mississippi has in comparison:

Comparative Analysis State Subsidies:

1) Texas Southern $7,558,995
2) Prairie View A&M $7,243,582
3) Jackson State $3,804,250  :emlaugh:

"I say, I say, I say listen up to me boy. The state of Texas simply hates you. Now before you say anything about Mississippi, you need to let your head catch up with you tongue before it get all sun burnt. That was a joke son, I say a joke!" :emlaugh:

I hope most realize now that quite a few schools wont be DI in a few years. With states cutting budgets, schools wont be able to justify the expense. As a matter of fact, I expect to see quite a few HBCUs close shop. If you look at your states budget condition, enrollment, endowment and alumni activity, you will see who is at risk.

Exactly...this is what Masons sellout backstabbing ass was trying to tell the HBCUs in MS....he just went about it the wrong way. I'm sure he his working with that Punjab governor in Louisiana to do the same thing he proposed in Mississippi.

When HBCU closings are brought to JSU in the near future, I hope JSU abstains from acting on behalf of others.

JSU is not the only school that should be D1 from the SWAC.

Let's Examine Ready Ready's allegations and examine what the Mighty Jsu has done in the second tier FCS (Formely I-AA and now so called D-1). Surely they have been lighting the world on fire and has set themselves apart from all schools in the SWAC.

1) One football Conference Championship in 15 years. :smh:
2) 1 BCF National Championship in 26 years. :emlaugh:
3) 4-10 record against the MEAC the last 15 years. :smh:
4) All time 0-13 in I-AA playoffs. :emlaugh:
5) 2-12 record against Grambling since 2000. :smh:
6) 4-8 record against Tennessee State since 2000  :emlaugh:

These two gentlemen just got the memo that Jsu is the only SWAC school according to Ready Ready that should be D-1

7 and 8 million dollars in Bama State's case is a lot of money to put on the backs of the students and taxpayers for athletics. Wonder how long they are going to be able to justify that.

Glad you said it, GR has to be in deep denial, stuck on stupid or just plain dumb with foolish pride not to realize it. They haven't done nothing and have the nerve to put others under microscopes.:emlaugh:

Let's see here; the SWAC schools cannot even compete against FCS schools in the playoffs and we want to move up to play D-1, where we get blown out by 50 or more points. You got to be kidding me. We don't have the revenue to move up and we have too much pride to say we need to move to D-2, where we don't have the best chance of winning national titles on that level also. Let's make the move when we have the resources to do so!

Let me to all of you in a curt manner.....

Our alumni will come to a football game and spend $300 on liquor and bar-b-que but will not right a check for half that amount.

The biggest problem with HBCU alums giving money is they want to make sure they money is being spent properly and not being stolen, if The Administrations have their stuff to get and make sure the money is being spent properly and there is proof then more people will give. Nothing more, nothing less. At HBCU's such as Hampton, Howard etc you see where your money is going, that's why they give.

That is a true statement also. My family has went and taught at Virginia St and that was a major problem for years that we know of. If we give money to the athletic program or for education, we want it to go to used what we say we want it for.

Also, we will pay for an outfit in access of hundreds of dollars, but cry when our schools, that are using the money wisely and the one that gave the degree you have ask.
