HBCUs nationwide see a surge in interest and enrollment

This is great ONLY IF that's coupled with higher retention and graduation rates. It sucks so many HBCU students get these student loans and have absolutely nothing to show for it outside HOPEFULLY valuable experiences.

Every fall semester, tens of thousands of bright eyed excited freshmen start their HBCU journey only for at most 40% of them to complete it in 7 years. And granted some may have transferred elsewhere and graduated but I think it's safe to say the majority of HBCU freshmen don't complete their degree in 10 years. The only SWAC school to graduate the majority of their freshmen class is FAMU and that's barely (around 55%). Spelman has the highest graduation rate at 76% ... next highest is Howard in the 60s
