Tigerpride now you know that Alcorn is a better drilling band than Jackson State! Alcrons drilling concept is more creative than JSU's! Both bands lack drive and execution in their shows but at the end of the day Alcorn is a better drilling band than JSU! Like it or not!

You can like what you like but Antroy is simply LYING if he says that JSU goes into another formation for the twirlers or Baby Tigers...we are drilling the ENTIRE time they are out there. Alcorn WALKS so they look a little neater than JSU but the tempo is slow and then at times they STILL look ragged. That JSU halftime show vs Gram was the exception, not the rule. I feel disrespected even comparing Alcorn to JSU.

Dude, what da heyell are you talking about?!?! I'm surprised nobody has called you out on this mess yet.

JSU does not drill. I can tell you a typical JSU field show right now:

1) Drum major intro.
2) Tiger-run on
3) Form JSU
4) Float JSU down to the 50
5) J-sette feature
6) Dance routine

JSU does not drill. SU does a drill. Alcorn does a drill. Prairie View does a drill. Grambling does a drill.

JSU DOES NOT DRILL!!

You called that doing a drill?!?! It's the same thing every game, every year.

Do a Step 2 drill. A box and diamond drill. A star drill. Something!!!

DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS ONE TIME!!!

Antroy, ur hate for JSU is very deep......even deeper than some of the Jukes I know.....

From that 1st clip you posted.....JSU did a diamond drill while doing a Step 1 drill.......then they did a Star Drill right after that.....all in that 1st clip....so obviously YOU don't know wtf you are talking about....

Then yo dumbarse posted a Homecoming show......JSU NEVER drills @ Homecoming, our show would be 13+ minutes if we did......since we have to play for the Royal Court which last around 4 minutes

Even then you forget about the times we've put the JSU drill at the end, wrap around drill, or the ripple JSU drill.....

heyal, even the Box drill they did this year @ the CCC or even the 2step drill they did at the Southern Heritage......

but JSU doesn't drill right *rolls eyes*

i'd expect that.....you from Alcorn :retard:

I have NO IDEA wtf he been lookin at!

Tigerpride, did you actually MARCH in the Boom or are you just a groupie? Show me your "Sonic Boom" hours and I'll continue talking with you. If you're just a groupie, you need to go fetch people like FrostyNacho (those that actually MARCHED in the Boom) some water.

Saying Alcorn drills slow? Griff will never have a show over 8 and a half minutes, at the EXTREME max. I know we pick up the tempo on our drills. After all, I actually put in time marching in the Sounds of Dynomite.

Everything about Alcorn is slow. I still cringe from that "Before I let you go" and that horrid drill from 1994 in Jackson.....and how slow ya'll played "JAM" in 1992 when you got JSU on the Reservation. If ya'll were that sorry in the early 90's imagine how bad you are now. Ya'll did wax JSU in 1991 though...I think we had a SU grad as director that year.

I have actually not even taken the time to see anything from Alcorn lately because about 3 years ago, I looked and everything was just bad. You all used to at least have VERY straight lines (due to walking) but even that was gone.

You just talking to be talking.. I heard Alcorn in person those years.. Alcorn was on fugging point... Once again, why are you here when you know absolutely not-a-thing about this "band" subject?

That SU grad was Pops Duplessis. Pops had been there for years under Haughton and Taylor. He knew JSU in and out and been apart of the glory years of the Boom.

I'm beginning to wonder if you do. However, I will agree that Alcorn was 10x's better back then than they are not. How they are right now is sad. Not Fort Valley State sad...but sad.

JR, that Pop dude engineered one of the worst bands in JSU history. What Alcorn did to us in 1991 was criminal. :smh:

Research what they did to you all in 95 while your at it... Don't waste your time it ain't like you going to know what to listen for.. The fact you are in here trying to debate with a lack of band knowledge is "criminal"...

And you say Pop engineered JSU worst band in jsue history?!?! you kidding right?!?!

Yall know we aren't supposed to be arguing with The Sonic Boom's "Waterboy."

I don't care enough to research it. It's Alcorn! Besides, I was in the stands for every JSU-Alcorn game from 1987-2002 except one year and I don't recall but about two times that Alcorn was decent. Antroy can post all he wants but I ain't seen that star drilled done neatly but one time. As far as 1995 goes, I don't really remember but I seem to recall that was the year the BOOM brought out to "space ship" and did that Janet and Michael Jackson song. But I don't recall much about either show but I would remember when and if I see JSU gets waxed and 1995 does not hold such memory. Even in JSUs worst year (1998) by the time we got to the Alcorn game, we got better as the year went on and waxed Alcorn. We murdered them in 1996 and JSU got boo'ed in 1999 because Alcorn copied our show and went out there first so it looked like we copied everything from them. It was really sad of them...seriously.

as far as me and music....not that I have to validate anything to you but I started playin sax in the 4th grade. I only marched in High School, not college. Am I an expert?...nope but I do have a sense of what is supposed to be what. There have been some years recently that I have even disliked what the BOOM sounded like, most recently around 2004 or 2005, I believe.

Anybody heard anything on this BOTB?

The promo said their will be playing in the stands. And just from knowing it's the very beginning of the season- the shows will be very limited.

I saw it on the World Congress Center website. I kinda wanted to go.

Re: Battle of the bands- ATL

Nene, this is like the third topic on this. Where you been, girl? :lmao:

I don't think the shows are going to be too limited. Most bands were in band camp 2 weeks before school started. Several schools have BIG matchups in the first week (JSU vs. Hampton, Bama State vs. FAMU) and you know they will get creative.

I'm actually about to get my tickets online right now.

True. SU has been in band camp since the first week of August. Well at least the Freshmen were then the upperclassmen got there the second week.

Re: Battle of the bands- ATL

Grambling will be there too....After being in Reno....

Got back to Memphis early Sunday morning from my aunts funeral in Shreveport and I decided to stop in Grambling and on the way back i caught the band practicing: i was impressed: they are ready and they sound good! They will have a great showing at the BOTB!
