Killer Bees said:I went to a graduation ceremony at Alabama A&M this weekend. I haven't noticed any graduates leaving the stadium early, but I have notice some of them going into the audience looking for their families after they already walked across the stage while the program is still going on. I have also noticed some families leaving early, but I figured because it looked like it was going to pour down at any moment. A&M holds its graduate in it's football stadium.

Are your graduates getting up and leaving graduation before the ceremony ends?
CriTAUcal said:My mother attended Alcorn's graduation a couple of weeks ago, and she said she noticed how graduates were walking around during the ceremony (after they got their degrees) and taking pictures with their families.
She also said some graduates didn't have on dress shoes but had on sandals (the ones that look like flip flops).
gramuntildeath said:Why would they allow them to do this??????? I Pray this is not true
CriTAUcal said:My mother was there to witness it. She ain't got to lie.
She was wondering if this was something that was maybe allowed now, which is why she asked me about it.

I can only imagine the lack of decorum at graduations at "other" colleges.Butch Wms. said:I hope this isn't true but our lack of decorum runs rampant even among the best and brightest of us.I'm so afraid that it is true.Outlandish celebrations should be restrained until the activities are over and parents in attendance should demand that.
SU's Finest '93 said:Wow, this really surprises me....I thought it was mandatory that the graduates remain seated until the ceremony was over. At least, that's how it was, when I graduated. Times have really changed.
And did I see someone post that folks are wearing sandals to the ceremony? Lord, have mercy. :smh:

GRAM4LIFE said:Yeah, it is much worse at the PWC graduations. Like MH said, I have seen beach balls and all kinds of things going on.
Golden Kitten said:My boy got his degree from 'Skegee on May 8. :jump: :jump:
No grads left their seats before the end of the program and the students were pretty well behaved. They were given the clue at the rehearsal. There were a few young ladies who had on flip flops and I won't even mention the numerous pairs of stilletto heels that these girls couldn't walk on. :smh: One joker who had on sneakers was pulled from the line. :shame:
As Mighty Hornet said, you ain't seen nothing until you've been to a large state school commencement. That mess at U-Michigan is unlike anything you've ever seen. You would think you're at a fball game where a commencement program broke out. It's unbelieveable... :retard:
GRAM4LIFE said:Yeah it's the outdoor ones that are the worse...
AAMU Alum said:I saw that very thing at my nephew's graduation from UNC- Greensboro in 2001.
While I don't like seeing our kids mingling out in the audience while their fellow classmates are receiveing their degrees, it's nothing compared to what goes on at these PWCs. I saw a kid at Alabama pull a skateboard from under his gown, and ride it across the stage to receive his degree.
The president had a look on his face that said "I'm going to KILL you!:redhot:"
My mouth dropped to the floor!!
