HBCU Football Programs Have Nothing to Be Ashamed Of

Last night ULM was almost defeated by Southeastern Louisiana University. ULM won off a blocked kick.

When I see teams like GSU (since Fobbs took over), PV (recently), and NC A&T I fundamentally believe our schools should be playing these lower level teams....take their money....beat them...and take their fucking spirit and pride....then leave their coaches wondering why and the black players that chose these schools wishing that they were part of the HBCU team that won.

Teams like ULM should face it...they will NEVER be a bowl eligible team...these are facts not speculation. ULM and teams like them are glorified FBS programs because a few rich boosters want to see them on the field with teams like SEC programs even if they are skull drug all over the field.

In short...this is a situation of the lowest white man on the totem pole feeling that he is still better than the best black man.

Your thoughts....

ULM should just move back down to FCS like Idaho did

Their pride will not allow them to do so.... ULM has often compared themselves to La Tech. What ULM doesn't understand is that Tech is in a completely different financail backing bracket. Moreover, their football program along with other programs are lackluster.

When GSU plays ULM again...that will be an ugly loss for ULM.

Turnovers killed us when we played them. Tillery was putting in that work on them boys. Regardless of who you play, you gotta play clean

Playing a clean game is the key. We beat ourselves too much when we play them. The Grambling-Arizona game was a good example of playing clean (first half) and beating ourselves (second half).

Concerning the Arizona game Kincade was injured....not if that injury had no occurred the ending would have been quite different.... Hickbottom took over in many of our games and we appeared to struggle.

Now when you mean playing clean do you mean not having injuries as well?

When I’m saying “playing clean,” I’m talking about committing few penalties and turnover-free ball. Drive killing penalties like holding when we’re on the right side of the 50 or a defensive penalty or unsportsmanlike that keeps the opposing team on the field after a third down

Not saying it doesn’t hurt us when we’re playing each other. However it REALLY hurts us when we play up and other OOC games.

Well that Arizona game GSU played clean...I think it scared the coaching staff when Kincade was injured and they were like "nah we have proven our point on what we can do."

The problem I had is that Gram could have ran the ball a little more in the second half. Hickbottom was a good runner as well. Clean game means coaching (play calling) as well.

The question is, "would you put your back up in danger of getting hurt over a non-conference game that really means nothing?"

Now I think if the SWAC participated in the playoffs a lot of things would be different.

More to the point of this thread though....our HBCUs are competing because of the coaching hires and players in the league.

Ask App State or Jax State if beating MI or Ole Miss meant nothing to their programs

I am just saying give the read option a try. I was working when Kincade was in the game. I not more handoffs to other RBs. But I do agree the coaching has gotten better.

We should not be ashamed period, Did you see some off those scores NON HBCU schools were getting handed to them by some P5 schools

True! HBCU Fan for life! Some of those lower non HBCU's are in the same boat as we are!

Hi everyone, I cover mainly University of North Dakota Sports, however I was fortunate to be able to cover the MVSU-UND Thursday game from two perspectives ( I wrote a recap from an MVSU perspective on gamenight and wrote more about UND later) MVSU has nothing to be ashamed of from its first week, and its quick strike offense and resilience impressed me a lot. MVSU under Coach Dancy could go places and soon. Good luck in the Swac and beyond this year. Check my recap out for some more thoughts from the Delta Devils.Copy and paste the link if the link doesnt work. https://seamoresports.com/2018/08/31/35-7-how-tonights-score-does-not-tell-the-whole-story-for-mvsu/
