HBCU Combine/NFL Combine/Pro Days Thread

Hes
Hold that invite until spr'23. He will be in grad school shortly and playing for the final time fall 2022. Both he and Mr James. He's the one we are looking to have a break-out year. He was decently quiet at times last fall.
Hes getting drafted for sure

Here are some of the JSU players who participated in the events:

  • DE James Houston IV
  • CB Al Young
  • WR Keith Corbin
  • DB CJ Holmes
  • LB Keonte Hampton
Jackson State also hosted five players from Alcorn State University:

  • QB Felix Harper
  • DB Taurence Wilson
  • DB Juwan Taylor
  • RB Stadford Anderson
  • DB LeCharles Pringle

One of the most-talked-about players following the pro day was hybrid LB/DE James Houston IV, a former University of Florida transfer. At his pro day, Houston weighed in at 6-1 and 244 pounds, but he impressed scouts with 4.6 40-yard dash, 22 repetitions on the bench press and a 39-inch vertical jump. He has the ability to play off-ball linebacker, but he can also put his hand in the dirt and rush the passer (as showcased by his 16.5 sacks in 2021).

Kansas City obviously has needs on the defensive side of the ball and they’re leaving no stone unturned with the 2022 NFL draft coming up next month.

Houston Texans should really have sent someone to Jackson State.

In today’s NFL, your traditional big schools will always get the attention. However, more FCS schools (like JSU) have been producing great players such as:

  • James Robinson (Illinois State)
  • Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington)
  • Kamu Grugier-Hill, Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois)
    • Garoppolo hasn’t lit up the NFL, but you still have to be good to get to a Super Bowl and NFC Championship games in different seasons.
  • Tytus Howard (Arkansas State)
  • Darius Leonard, Javon Hargrave (South Carolina State)
  • Terron Armstead (Arkansas Pine-Bluff)
It’s important to keep going to schools at the FCS level because you never know when you’re going to find a playmaker. The rest of the players from the FCS in the NFL can be seen here. Especially when you got Sanders, who is very influential to many players, there could be a lot of draft gems in the future.

Let’s hope that the Texans don’t wind up on this list again next year

Shidddddddd... I said "PV returns 9 starters on O and 9 starters on D."

I wasn't joking. 👀👀👍🏿

Mickey Dean was exercising the CV waiver before it was a thing. lol
Reasons I scoff at Grambling acting like they just about to walk on down swac west blvd, lay the smack down , and skip on to the SWAC championship game “live from Grambling” as some allege … cocaine is a hell of a drug…. Meanwhile at jsu we just looking for two toe transplants. We don’t coach our players. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

New grass field practice field by the turf field coming along nicely

It’s actually done. We been using it all week

He going for Mickey Dean record
Two guys that I thought would never leave were that hard running downhill terror, Mickey Dean, and that kid who played QB at A&M who transferred in from Auburn. Now the kid at A&M may have had a brother on the team and their eligibility may have overlapped which may have made it seem that he or that player's name was there for such a long time!

Which Luke brother was that?

He's talking about Kelcy Luke(QB) and Nic Luke(RB) from the 2006 Swac Championship team..Nic is currently on staff at Northern Illinois being very successful climbing the ranks...Nic Luke and Bryant Ross are really repping for the young A&M football college coaches.
Where Kelcy?
