HBCU Basketball: January 2 - 9

Men:
UAPB - 105
MVSU - 91

Valley led the game at half and most of the 2nd half until it was tied at 71. PB went on a 13-0 run and that was all she wrote. We haven't scored over 90 points against a D1 school in a while so I'm happy about that but we can't let SWAC teams go on double digit runs like the OOC schools did. Hopefully we can carry this scoring for the rest of the season while working Romain back into the fold

Only 2 people left on the team that can score. We won't win many like that. It's a good thing we get Collins back within a few weeks.

Ben Jobe was the last basketball coach we had that could identify D1 talent or teach and develop guys into legitimate D1 players. Pettaway was one of the best D2 coaches of all time, but neither he nor Hayes could shake the inability to recruit and retain a D1 roster.

Pettaway had a nice squad back when Trotter and Co. were playing for him. A&M hasn't been that good since.

We did. But time passed Pett by. His style of coaching just didn't work with the new generation. When you're on a contract, you have to put your pride aside to do the best for your program. I love Pett but he just wasn't capable of thriving at the D1 level for a sustained length of time.
