HBCU Basketball: February 27 - March 5

Man, please............let @C-LeB28 speak the truth. We all know how crazy things can get in the SWAC tourney. Shit, truth be told, sTu can easily be NIT bound.....no hate. Stranger things have happened.

BTW.........if y'all do end up in the NIT, maybe y'all will be matched up with LSU, and Griffin can do his thang against Ben Simmons......I'd pay to see that.
If that match up happens, Griff might play his way into the lottery against Simmons.

Southern men looking for answers as they host Texas Southern

At midseason, Southern was the Tigers’ closest pursuer, but the Jaguars have lost their last three games to slip into fourth place.

They’re in search of more consistent rebounding, inside scoring and a spark off the bench.

They entered the season as a relatively small team with a relatively short bench, but still managed nonconference wins against Mississippi State, Tulane and Wyoming, as well as an 8-2 start in SWAC play.

But things have changed.

“There are just a lot of question marks at the end of this year that you’re not accustomed to having,” coach Roman Banks said.

This is the first time the Jaguars have lost three consecutive SWAC games in Banks’ five seasons. The number could reach four against a Tigers team that has won six straight and started SWAC play with an 88-66 win against Southern in the conference opener nine weeks ago.

Southern has lost the last five meetings with TSU, but Banks said he thinks the Jaguars, who close the regular season at home against Prairie View on Saturday, can turn things around in time for the SWAC tournament next week.

No wonder them jags been quiet.

If SU keep playing this way, they could end up playing ASU or PV in their first game and I wouldn't wanna play either of those teams right now

We'll probably get them in the first round. Jamel has been on fire lately. If we can play better defense, we'll have a chance to win the tournament.

We owe y'all for last season. We definitely haven't forgotten about that
I expect SU to do really well in the tournament, it's best you get out the way lol. I will say, all teams are capable of winning a game, so I also expect a lot of upsets this year.

What happened to yall? Did some starters get injured like ours or something. A 3 game slide isn't normal under Banks in conference. I'm definitely not as confident with our team now that 2 of our top scorers are injured.

That win against TSU got PV to playing well. ASU has been playing well since February rolled around. Both have a ceiling that is the #5 seed in the tourney and they've both have beat SU so that's gonna be a pretty good game.

Valley's ceiling is #6 (lost to ASU twice so they got the tie breaker) so we'll probably avoid them although we've played PV and ASU close this year. Alcorn could be the #2 and we've played them hard both times (2 losses in OT) but we don't match up well with TSU or SU at all.

Who? For the season?

Yea these last couple of games will definitely play a huge role as far as seeding goes.
