Southern gets back on winning track by beating North Carolina Central
ADVOCATE STAFF REPORT

LAS VEGAS — Southern ended its first losing streak of the season when it defeated North Carolina Central 68-63 in the Global Sports Classic on Monday afternoon.

The Jaguars (8-4) lost back-to-back games against Memphis and Louisiana Tech last week before holding off the Eagles, who are 3-8 after losing their fourth straight.

Southern will play Omaha in the championship game of the visitors bracket of the classic at 3:30 p.m. CST Tuesday in its final game until next month.

“(UNCC) came out with a lot of energy,” Jaguars coach Roman Banks said. “They were more aggressive, but we just kept playing. We didn’t panic.

“It was a very tough, physical ballgame. And when you’re in a heavyweight fight, you try to make it through all 12 rounds. We were able to stand toe to toe with them, and we got the lead late in the first half and were able to keep it.”

Coach Banks gonna chew their azz out in the locker room. Because they need it. 30 to 17 3:45 1st p this damn team is not no 10 points better at any point in 40 minutes

6 out of 13 from the ft line

lots of new faces for the hornets. bigs, other than holloway haven't really contributed. they have been letting teams light them up from 3. played better against Coastal. The winthrop game will be interesting. Winthrop's starting center out w/ broken wrist.
Va Tech was really Lew's first sig win. first over P5 team. hopefully they'll come more often now.
Butler is our best big. Holloway is too slow and can be easily pushed around. Armstrong coming back has helped us. We should have beat Winthrop today but lost 92-84

Prairie View playing Nebraska at 7 or 8 pm BTN plus tonight Tuesday December 22, not sure of the time, our website says 7 pm but the tv station says 8 pm.
Watch at your own risk, ugh is it Spring football yet?

So are all the other guys sitting out? Burton, johnson, the 6'10 juco and the 6'6 juco out of Tennessee?

Johnson is being redshirted. Burton isn't eligible. Not sure if he'll play this season. Not sure what happened to the other two

We and Valley made ESPN's list of winless D-I M bball teams. smh Along w/ DelSt of the MEAC, who just got trounced by Utah.

Lawd.. Surely we can find some great bball players and coaching somewhere around here. :(

Didn't Delaware State just make the MEAC title game last year?

PV and Valley... we'll win a SWAC game I hope lol

TSU trails 20-16 against Syracuse with 7:32 left in the 1st half. Game is on espnu and D. Griffin is looking good.

With the recent Vice sports article on Valley making its rounds, at least another SWAC school is getting recognized nationally for the annual Nov.-Dec. barnstorming tour lol
