Has someone ever said something in your past that still ticks you off?

When I was in the 3rd grade, I remember this guy that was in High School that told me that I'm never going to be s&&&!. This was a brother and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I think that comment really pushed me to be successful in my life. I think I saw the guy that made that comment about 10 years ago and now he's on drugs among other things. Has anyone had similiar experiences?

Yes, I can think of some. However, I am at a point in my life where I WANT to let it go.

1. I struggled with Algebra in high school. My teacher, Cynthia Martin, told me "Kema, once a c-student, always a c-student..." That was something to tell a student! I could never get more than c in her class. However, the next class, I did better and better. Not only did MASTER algebra, I scored a 22 in math on my ACT and I did not even have to take algebra in college. I went on to make an A in Calculus III on my final examination. I wanted so badly to find her and shove that grade in her face. But its over now. Doesn't really matter.

2. Several things my mother said to me.

However, I have learned the best revenge was success in the faces of those who downgraded you.

J4J, I couldn't agree more. I've gotten over the comments made by the guy, but sometimes I think about it. Maybe, I think about it sometimes to push me to do better.

When I was pledging at NE at AAMU.

2 brothers that will remain nameless told me that I would never be an OMEGA .

I didnt make it in 99, but I PERSEVERED and Saw it Through and pledged 2 years later in St. Louis.

Came back to AAMU with my letters, but I remained HUMBLE and it was all good. Bruhz showed me so much love. They knew I had Que in my heart and even though I didnt make it in 99 I WASNT gonna pledge something else or give up.

The day I crossed I realized that no one has say so over GOD's PLAN.

Yep. I never confronted the person about it & strangely enough, they now love me to death (almost like their child.)

By now, I'm supposed to have 4 kids by 4 different men, living on welfare, and stealing fema checks.

The bad thing about some of the issues we had from the past was from our own people. I think we are our own worst enemy at times.

Sonny, the way you have to look @ the Pledging situation is that it wasn't your time when you was @ A&M. Way to persever!

Short winded version or long winded version? :shame:

Not ticked. Just overly concerned that an adult would say what she did to a 17 yr old impressionable child. :| Unbelievable. :smh:

I have been telling people to kiss my azz all of my life and still doing so. Many people are not mentally well and are subject to say anything. Some of these clowns will even lie to carry out their warped agenda. There are two ways that I know of to deal with it. One, use it as motiviation (negative reinforcement) or two, ignore and forget the comment. When the negative thought occurs just simply think about something else. Everyone has control over their thought process (many are not aware of this).

Yeah. I wasnt ticked off but I had a professor kinda like a mentor tell me something. I was going through my divorce and doing really wrong. She said to me "Until you do right by your husband, no relationship you ever have is going to be right." Well I ignored that. Two years later my exhusband and I have spoke, made amends, and my relationships have gotten better.

I dont know if she was right or wrong but it stuck to me. After I apologize and he told me he forgave, things just seem a whole lot better.

In High School, I took French four years. Well that last year we were talking about college and my French Teacher, Mrs. Castro, told me that I should not go to college but go to a "Junior College". Yes, she was white. I remember going back to the ROTC building and talking to my ROTC instructor. He told a story about how he was a bad college student and dropped out and how is son was a bad sailor but was a great college student. He told me "You never know if college is for you until you go and find out for yourself." Yep, he is also white.

Thanks Chief Baum, I never told you that. You were the reason I went to college.
