Harry Reid apologizes for racial remarks about Obama during campaign

CEE.
That's not the point.

If a repub had said what this guy said, how many of these forgiving black lawmakers and posters here for what it's worth, would be acting like it's a big misunderstood joke.
If a Repub had been uncovered saying this and admitted it, fire and brimestone would be comming out my computer screen from all the mad as hell people discussing it.

Well Players that right there should tell you how much a PARTY control a good bit of these peoples on here minds.....

Most folk want other to do the thinking for them.... they put all trust in their party..... After the years and years of deceit, I can't see how anybody trusts any of these mofos...

You are right Players..

Folks looked at me crazy when I said the Trent Lott thingy wasn't that big of a deal to me. It was stupid but I didn't think he meant it in that fashion...

That's me.
I trust individuals.
I don't trust PARTIES because each will show their hypocrit, Washington way's when it's all said and done in cases like this.

These people get so comfortable they forget that they are in a position that don't allow them to say or act on shat like this.
When Trent Lott said that at that birthday party, I just shrugged my shoulders and wrote it off as Trent Lott being drunk in a room full of his people.
He may think like that but that was the first time in all the years I have been watching Mississippi Reps, he has said something that stupid.
The Demos ran Lott out on a rail by screaming for him to resign, but they want to dismiss this guy's same attitude when it come to black people because he is one of them..............A Demo.:smh:

Guess he put OBAMA in that class of Black people that whites say people like MJ, Prince, Denzel, etc., are in.
They black but they view them as a different kind of black than the common Black "Leroy".

:shame::shame: Man 2012 is about to be a mess. The Dems keep bringing logs to the fire that the Republicans are trying to light on they ass in 2012.

not so fast my friend, them mofos are falling apart at the seems too. They are bout to oust Michael Steele soon.

Although it may be truth, I don't like how fast black Democrats are running to defend Harry Reid.

Micheal Steele recently stated if a white Republican said the same thing, black Democrats would have asked him to step down. I agree with Steele on this one. I see this as being no different from the Trent Lott gaff.

You know what is so ironic about this? Check out this quote I found from Harry Reid: "He had no alternative. If you tell ethnic jokes in the backroom, it's that much easier to say ethnic things publicly. I've always practiced how I play."

This is about Trent Lott's remark at the Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday party.

Can you say double standard?

I don't think you understand the differences in the two statements.

It's not just what a repub says, it's his voting records that counts the most.

Harry Reid is "Devastatingly Racist" Says Rush Limbaugh

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjrAFiJ4fNs

Rush explains who the real racists are in America. Libs!

I usually don't respond but for real............HONESTLY.:lecture:
Quote someone else besides Rush limbaugh when talking about racist and their followers.
Rush calling someone racist is as hypocritical as The Grand Dragon of the KKK calling the Skinheads Racist.:shame:

The statements Rush made about Reid and the Dems are true.

The Washington DEMO's are looking really stupid right now defending this guy after all the people they have went after and forced to resign on the other side. :smh:

exactly, and I think he should step down. I don't agree with the double standards.

Honestly, there isn't much different between a D & an R when it comes to race. Dems just hide it better, we all saw it during the race against Hillary how the white Dems really feel.

If Trent Lott had to step down, so should Harry Reid.

If Harry Reid doesn't step down, we shouldn't get upset the next time a Repub says something like this.

the two statements were on different levels..

Trent shouldn't have stepped down either. Mississippi suffered because of it...

Man yall are funny. The same folks who are tripping on what Reid said are the same folks who turn their nose up at you when you speak using Ebonics. Both black and white folks need to sit down some dang where. You discriminate everytime you hear Pookie and Ray Ray talk. Pot, kettle, black as usual.

What we seem to be forgetting is that this is POLITICS. IT has nothing to do with what's fair, true, equal or balanced. It's all about finding something to criticize your opponent with.

To me, Reid didn't say anything that wasn't true -- and it really isn't any big deal. Everybody on this board knows that part of what helped Obama was his "Clean Cut" look at "Perfectly Articulate" speech. We also saw the "Brotha" peek out from time to time (Remember "Dirt off your shoulder?") and folks lost their minds. That Obama's look and speech helped get him over is something we we all know.

The only reason that repubs are slamming Reid and Dems are protecting him is because its politically expedient to do so.

That's the same reason repubs are blocking healthcare and anything else Obama wants.

Let's be real.

Nothing these people say surprise me when it come out.
My focus is on the double standard being practiced by the DEMO's towards one of their own as compared to all the firestorms they created when someone across the isle say something stupid like this.

Maybe I'm missing something but didn't Lott basically say if we went back to the way things were handle in the 50's and 60's (keep blacks in they place) then America would be a lot better?

How is that the on the same level?

Royal and jsupop33 - My view of what is happening is just like the use of the N word - some blacks think its ok and others dont -and there is a big cry from the users of it when a non black person uses it, but they are cool with their use.

In this situation - Trent is thought of as racist and his words was a confirmation for some feel that he is that way. Harry is not thought of as a racist and that why he is not held to the same standard as Trent.

I need one of you intellectuals to explain how these two comments are the same...

Lott said: "When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over the years, either."

Thurmond ran for President of the United States in 1948 on the Dixiecrat. Dixiecrats was a segregationist, socially conservative political party in the United States.

Reid said: was wowed by Obama's oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama -- a "light-skinned" African American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,"

Reid's comments came in a private conversation after being asked if American was ready to elect a Black man

Sidenote: I didn't support the calling for Trent Lott to step down.

Just stop.:smh:

If this was a REPUB that called Obama this, people, INCLUDING those black caucus members and especially people here making "it's not the same" excuses would be screaming for blood and you know it.
This board would be lit up and these hypocrit's that are all but on their knees defending this guy would be acting like it's WW3. :shame:

I didn't call for Lott, this guy, or anybody else to resign either.
None of this surprise me on either side of the isle.
