GRAMBLING -- Grambling State’s big offensive line just got a lot bigger – 6-foot-5, 350 pounds bigger.

Former Kilgore (Texas) Junior College lineman Keeyon Smart transferred in Thursday and will be eligible to play this season for the Tigers as a redshirt sophomore.

The offensive tackle will go through three days of acclimation per NCAA rules, then will be able to fully participate in practice Wednesday. While he weighed in at 350, Tigers head football coach Broderick Fobbs expects Smart to play around 315 to 320.

Smart, a Baton Rouge native, originally signed in 2015 with Tulane out of McKinley High School, joining his older brother Tanzel Smart, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

After redshirting with the Green Wave, Smart left the program after one year and enrolled at Kilgore before the 2016 football season. With one year of junior college ball under his belt, he opened his recruitment back up and chose Grambling State over UTSA this summer.
