Ms.J4J and Dtown, whatchall know 'bout making groceries? When I first went to college and would say something about "making groceries" my girls from Chicago would laugh so hard. For the longest, I didn't understand why. That's all I ever knew was that you made groceries. I still make groceries. :D

I guess ALDI's is a Midwest and East Coast thing?
BF, isn't this the "NO FRILLS" store? If so, when I lived in Champaign I went their once but, I couldn't buy anything. All of those plain white boxes w/black writing. How could I tell if there was really corn in that can? I just didn't feel secure in buying food from them. Maybe they've gotten better. :uhoh:

Hell naw....:lmao:

ALDI's is like the grocery store where all the people with EBT (Food Stamps) go to get groceries on the Low. I go there cause 90% of there stuff is on the LowLow. Most of their items are Low Budget but Good.

what is a WALMART Neighborhood Market?

They're building one on Coursey BLVD. in Baton Rouge

Walmart Neighborhood Market is a stand-alone Walmart with groceries only....... Yanno, food minus everything else they sell, the fabric, fishing lures, pool supplies, ceiling fans, etc.......

:dude:

I don't mind sharing a few secrets on how to save on Groceries.

Big lots
Salvation Army Thrift store
Dollar Store
Bonus Store
Sam's Club ( get there early to get the marked down porkchops and beef.)

All you have to keep up with is when they restock.

I went to Big lots to get my cookies yesterday and one lady bought every package of Oreos they had on the shelf. She kept looking at me, but never gave me one. I believe she runs a day care center buying up all the Oreo cookies.

One is also being built on Old Hammond @ Airline. It will next to Walgreens.

Kema,

I've never been in Big Lots, but I've heard they have some good bargains up in there. I'll have to check them out. I have one not too far from me now.

Thanks for the tips....

I have a habit of buying ALL of whatever I like & hate when someone comes up & asks, "Do they have anymore?" :(

Costco because they have more fresh items than Sam's. Sam's is trying to compete.

Publix is high but have a lot of fresh bread...Mountain Bread.

Walmart for soaps and Sta Flo....can't find the liquid starch any other place.

Winn Dixie and Kroger...depending on how I feel.

Big Lots in Pearland has furniture! :lmao:

They have beautiful picture frames, candle holders, towels...stuff for the yard....soaps too.

They also have decent priced dry seasoning and canned goods.

I am going to ask the manager to limit the number of cookies to 4 per visit.

Why would they build it there when they are building a Supercenter by Cortana less than 3 minutes away(with no traffic)? Maybe it's just to compete with Albertsons across the street.

They need a grocery store closer to Southern's campus quickly.

It's all about competing head to head with Albertson's. The Wal-Mart Market on Coursey is right down the street from an Albertson's. Mind you there is also a Wal-Mart Supercenter not to far away on O'Neal near I-12.

I agree about needing a grocery store near SU's campus. There was talk about attracting a store to the new development on Harding called Howell Place. I don't know what ever came of that.
