Grand jury refuses to indict JSU basketball players


I'm sorry..I was misinformed. I should have said 2 time "admitted" thief, that had the resources to get out of his situation before charges were pressed. My bad. But being real Alum..my Brandon Reed Comments were smack.....

Now back to the issue......

And if sneaking a girl into a dorm is a crime. Then dayum near every school in this country would be shut down. Because most of the students would be criminals. I know i would be a repeat offender. If that means that a man is leaving himself open to rape, then so does every other sexual encounter that anyone has with someone other than their wives! I had a broad at my crib for dinner on Tuesday....but according to your logic I left my self open to some charges......

You say ask any women which should would rather have happen. Hell even I know the answer, but if that woman laid her arse down and took on all comers.....then she stripped herslef of her own dignity! No one took it from her. And contrary to popular belief, there are an abundance of women who don't have any respect or dignity for themselves...so why should I? I in no manner condone rape....but I think for every chic that yells rape to try and save face after she gets down and dirty, is doing a greater harm to the women who have truly been victimized!

No, I never took part in one because I didn't need my boys to set anything up for me. I was able to handle my own business.

Don't compare what happen at JSU to one of the PWCs. They got the cash to do damage control, JSU doesn't. Man we have enough hurdles to overcome than to have players who would hurt our programs for some trim and sloppy seconds, thirds, etc.

You are telling me that a 20 year old college athlete has to be more concious of his actions than the average 20 year old college student? What type of crap is that? If you believe that then you also must subscribe to the notion that athletes deserve special treatment. Because according to you they are held in a higher regard. Man please...these kids are college kids. Just like any other student. They may be more popular than others. More in the spotlight, but that doesn't make them smarter are make them have better judgement than anyone else. They can make mistakes just like everyone else. I wouldn't do half the stuff now that I did in college. Because then I was young, and dumb, and not as mature as I am now. And my level of maturity came as I grew and developed into a man....playing football didn't make me become a man any quicker.

And my comment about assumption was not about who was arrested, but more to the notion that the rest of the players were even there to decline or accept the offer.

You say that I assume nothing happened because the grand jury didn't bring a case. That is wrong. I don't assume nothing happened, because it is apparent something happened in that room, I just don't really buy the story that was presented.....still though, the evidence was weighed, and no charges were brought for whatever reason. And since they are now free and clear of any legal actions against them, then they should be allowed to play ball. Plain and simple.

You didn't need your boys to set it out for you? Who said you did or didn't? You think a train is about what one can and can't get on his own? Come on man.......stick your chest out and beat it all you want in trying to prop yourself up about how strong your game is/was....but when the freak action jumps off, I can't ever recall somone saying...yeah let me get in there because I can't get no arse on my own. Athletes are under a microscope, so they must be aware at all times and because people are out there to take advantage of them.

Does ESPN care what your average college students does, "L" no, but athletes yes. This made ESPN news, but will the Grand Jury decision make their news? Don't think so.

You probably can't remember when the freak action jumps off someone saying let me get the "L" up out of here either.

ICE MAN. ESPN is where I found out the Grand Jury decision. They even said that the players will be allowed to play. Where are you going with this?:confused:

It's hard has "L" to get quality athletes to come to HBCUs. Do you think this helped? Regardless of the outcome this doesn't help, it hurts because JSU recruiters have to explain to parents how to keep this from happening to their kid. You got other parents concerned about their daughters.

That program couldn't been crushed because they violated dorm rules. Those rules are not there for nothing. Don't think the NCAA hasn't been watching this closely. Cheating in recruiting ain't the only thing they regulate.

My point is that this could have ended up real bad for JSU if they were charged and to allow them to play doesn't send a message.

People on the SWACPAGE are always talking about the level of play and the lack of talent in the SWAC. How Basketball sucks, but are quick to support a group of guys who should have been working on their game. Maybe there ain't a lack of talent, but a lack of focus.

Those two guys who have work hard this season to restore some dignty to JSU and now want dress out because the return of Bradley and Nichols will be the losers. The real sad part is the Stroglin doesn't have the sense to realize it.

Did ESPN break the story on their WEBSITE, do you think a article on the website atone for that on the hour reporting on TV?
 
How does this hurt recruiting? Don't send your child to JSU or they will become rapers:confused: This is where I'm confused. But nevermind.

What kind of message does it send to not let them play? They were not charged with anything. To punish them even more is criminal on the schools part.

She was the one that heisted her ass in the air for everyone in the dorm, and she was the one that lied and cried rape. I hope her ass gets charged with a few crimes.

Anyway, there isnt a man out here that is immune to getting hit with a rape charge. all some brawd gotta do is poit he finger at you and then there you are. But again, If the grand jury wont indite you, there is no evidence whatsoever that you did anything.

By your logic, every school that has had athletes accused of this type crime loses recruits. Nobody would have athletic programs if that were true.

No charges are be brought against Mike Tyson. The alleged Rape is not going to trail. There is not enough evidence to proceed with the case. And now the Las Vegas boxing commission is saying Tyson can re-apply(meaning we will give you a license now) without waiting the required year. But according to Ice's logic....they are doing a detriment to the entire sport of boxing by doing this.

It?s apparent that you and a few others are not aware of the CCACS Act of 1990 and that Congress is putting on the full court press to make sure it is enforced. Since the JSU players were not charged with a crime some of you think this over and everyone has moved on. Congress and the Department of Education don't think so. This act has been around over ten years, but Congress has come under fire lately and they are pushing the Department of Education to make sure it is enforced.

The Campus Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 requires colleges and universities to:

a) publish and distribute through publications or mailings an annual report of campus security policies and crime statistics to all current students and employees,

b) provide copies of the annual report to any applicant for enrollment or employment upon request and

c) to submit a copy of the annual report to the secretary of education. The crimes to be reported are: murder, sex offenses (forcible or non-forcible), robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft and crimes involving bodily injury to a victim because that person was intentionally selected because of their actual or perceived race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or disability. A crime is considered to be ?reported? when the police officer or the vice president for enrollment management and student life has been notified that a crime has occurred. The college must also report the number of arrests for the following crimes that occur on campus: liquor law violations, drug abuse violations and weapons possession. An arrest has occurred when a law enforcement officer has detained an individual with the intention of seeking charges against the person for a specific offense and a record is made of the detention.

The Annual Report submitted to the Secretary of Education is input into a Government Website that anyone can access to view crimes from all colleges. One of the purposes of this database is to make sure parents have this info when evaluating colleges. The Act of 1990 originally left this up to the parents to request it from the College. Now they are making sure that parents know they can get this info online. Although the JSU players were not indicted it will still show up on this Website as a crime. JSU goes from having zero sex offenses to at least seven when this database is updated. If some of you think that parents and recruites don't use this info when evaulating schools and that it has no impact on recruiting and enrollment.... you're stupid. North Carolina is having a hard time in basketball now. Check out their Sex Offense Crimes. I can tell you the basketball had something to do with that number. They are not getting the Blue Chippers they have gotten in the past.

Congress is working on an amendment to the Act of 1990 to make colleges develop and support models of leadership in athletics that reflect a clear and visible stand against violence against women and girls. Require that all coaches who work with youth in schools or community settings be trained in responding to and preventing violence against women and girls. Create a code of conduct for all student athletes that directly and clearly penalize those who commit abusive acts.

You might be right is want reduce the number of recruits and students JSU get, but it will have an impact on the quality of students.
