Grambling Traveling to CAU?

Pulling your pants down for a P5 is working huh? OK. Well enjoy your check. I would rather see more HBCU vs HBCU non conference classics at neutral sites.

And to think we use to have pride in our names.
Man please lol. Everyone plays these games. G5, all of FCS because they need the money to balance budgets. Neutral site classics outside of a few schools with big brands aren't going to give you even close to the amount of money those games do. Pride is all fine and dandy but it ain't keeping anyone's athletic program afloat. Hell even NDSU plays money games... even though they win most of them lol

I think this was a bad move by Grambling. It was even a bad idea when my own school did it in 2002/2003 when we did a home/home with Fort Valley then. If they are DII and you are FCS they need to come to you for a check or it is no deal. I also think is was a bad idea for JSU to play Tuskegee in Mobile. They would have brought their behind to Jackson or they wouldn't have been on that schedule. You think USM is going to travel to Alcorn or Jackson St. ? I am all for playing HBCUs as we are all family but you have to have standards. We are FCS and they are DII. If CAU and Tuskegee wanted us to come to them tell them to move up to FCS and play by FCS rules. I am even against the SWAC playing schools below the DII classification.

We continue to fail as a people in that area. The white man tells us that our lower division programs are a joke because we are a joke to him. However, if Alabama calls on a SWAC program to come to Tuscaloosa to strip on the field for a 60-0 beat down for a check, most of today's HBCU so called fans will love it and claim it's not beneath their program. I guess selling our own brand to each other every now and then is faded dream.
This comment makes no sense. The only reason FCS schools visit FBS schools is strictly for a paycheck to keep it's program's budget afloat. FAMU goes to University of Miami. JSU goes to Miss. State. Alcorn goes to USM. Bethune Cookman visits Florida State and why? For the money.
I wonder how much Grambling will be paid for visiting the home field of a lower tier school.

The JSU/ Tuskegee game is a classic of almost equal distance for traveling, not a home field game for a lower tier school. How many times must this be said?

As I see it it's like the saying goes, "If it makes money, it makes sense!" Now after we get an idea of how much money JSU and GSU will get for these games then we can determine how much sense these games make!

A different storyline. Alabama has a different history with Chattanooga than it does with AAMU. Samford and Tennessee Tech can't come together like Tennessee State and Jackson and sell tickets.

HBCUs are not the only ones feeling budget cuts. Those money games have to be made. We all would LIKE to see more HBCU vs HBCU games but at the end of the day budgets have to be made. Operating costs have to be paid and how many of these games can guarantee a $300k+ payday?

This isn't just a FCS problem neither.

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...to-add-florida-state-to-loaded-2018-schedule/
"The 2013 Orange Bowl rematch from the days of the BCS was notable not only for the two schools participating in it but because it added to the Huskies’ absolutely loaded non-conference slate even more. In 2018 alone, the program will take trips to Tallahassee as well as Iowa and BYU. The Huskies will sandwich a lone home non-conference game with Utah in there as well."

"“A $1.6 million infusion (from the FSU game) saved a lot of jobs and a lot of heartbreak in our department,” NIU athletic director Sean Frazier told FoxSports.com. “Our football staff stepped up and were a team player.”

This is a FBS school taking 3 money games to cover costs. Most HBCUs play only 1 of these types of games.

If that's the case, then it sounds like you'd be okay if Black FCS schools traveled to Black NAIA schools too.

If the stadium is adequate and the payout is decent then I wouldnt care. We're all in this struggle together and I dont look down upon lower level HBCUs. The difference between us and PWCs is we share a unique history with each other. If Bama State had to travel to Talladega, FVSU, Kentucky State or Lincoln I wouldnt have a problem because it gives us the chance to interact with other HBCU fans. We not Ohio State or Bama so i dont know where this notion of yall too good to play at some lower school comes from

With that being said though, I hope the GSU-CAU game is at the new GA State field (Turner Field) instead of that 1 sided stadium...hell I wish Morris Brown stadium gets fixed so we can have HBCU games there so that it can go towards helping them out and giving folks jobs in the Vine City and westside ATL communities.

Not surprising. There have been hundreds of people even thousands that rather stay in the same spot all through history.

Those very same people are the first ones to criticize complain and say I told you so if something goes wrong or if something is needed because of the lack of funds or support.

History has also shown us that those same people are also the first ones in line taking credit for somebody's else hard work courageous effort and vision even though they were to afraid to step out on the waters and get their feet wet.

The Bible teaches us about these people and not to be angry at them but to pray for them because their spirit has been beaten down so much they can't get pass their fears.

CAU aint spitting out no cash... the school broke as hell....

You can do money games and you can play smaller schools now that the 9-game curse has been lifted. Honestly, I'd like to see JSU do a 2-for-1 with a school like Morehouse, but I understand that fanfare takes a backseat to finances.

If ASU punched Bama in the face on the field like division II Tuskegee has done to ASU in the past, then I would help you.
To use your words, I was shocked when I heard that bama was traveling to bama state, but I don't see anything happening that demotes what their program has done.

The fact that some educated people can't seem the grasp the difference between earning a quarter to half a million dollar paycheck for your work vs just hooping and hollering for a halftime show is more frightening then having Donald Trump hand on the red button

Nothing is more scary than #45 with his stupid hand on the red button

This is not a debate about playing smaller schools.

Say that again. Which Bama is traveling to Bama State? To do what when?

just paraphrasing his quote and using it against his argument. substitute gram and cau for bama and bama state.

but bama did come to bama state for basketball. bama state boys should have won, bama state girls did win(krystal kitt days). don't think either has been back since.

Basketball is a totally different discussion since all FBS and FCS football schools are Division I basketball programs.

Baylor came to Southern as part of a 2-for-1 deal. North Carolina played at Bethune Cookman during Vince Carter's last season (part of a longstanding tradition at UNC for players to get at least one game in or near their hometown)

Basketball only does that when they are recruiting a player from that area .... or a senior is from that area .

There is no such thing as FBS or FCS in basketball. They are all Division I in basketball, hence FOOTBALL Bowl Subdivision in FBS and FOOTBALL Championship Subdivision in FCS. Neither subdivision has basketball in the title.

There is no way to justify allowing someone to pay you to beat your ass. Games vs evenly matched teams regardless of division should be the goal. If A&T wants to play WSSU, fine. Alabama State vs Skeegee is fine. Jacksonville State vs Troy.. fine. Southern vs UL-Monroe.. fine but why would SU want to play LSU or UT?

As for GSU, we all know they, along with SU, FAMU, and BAMA State, are one of the worst run HBCUs in the country. So this turn of events is expected.
