Grambling State vs AAMU cancelled


Man let this have been J State that did this ... we’d be having 20 page threads on the sports board, multiple threads open on the smackboard, ken and his staff would’ve wrote several articles and probably went live .... Grambling and Alcorn get a usual slap on the wrist pass smh .... hold these folks accountable please .... Grambling let’s call a spade a spade... y’all got internal issues , players ready to transfer, and Fobbs saying we can win with or without you at the helms.... get y’all crap together... this is straight up unacceptable.

When the Fall season was moved to the Winter/Spring of this year, I thought this would be a golden opportunity for this conference. For one, the SWAC would not be competing against other schools and/or conferences for attention. I thought it would especially be good for the players with regards to being seriously looked at by scouts like they used to. One could think what they want about Deion being a Coach at JSU but I loved the extra added attention he has brought with his name. In a corporate world, a company that wants to stand out has to be creative and do out of the box things. I felt this was our (the SWAC) time to do exactly that. All of the previous just doesn't seem to be possible now. I think we are missing out greatly. There were many similar things going on with PWI last fall but most schools stuck with it and made it work.

I won't point the finger at anyone or any team. I won't try to figure out who was or wasn't following Covid-19 protocol correctly. However I stand strongly on the opinion that if this conference continues with business as usual, like with the MEAC, many schools won't last. #justanothermansopinion

Gram should have to come back to Huntsville next year.... then we return to Grambling the year after. That isn't a punishment... its a flip. We had zero home games this year due to teams either having covid or backing out.

I tell you what give us our home games back since it's just a slap on the wrist. Unlike most schools, Alcorn loves our home games. It's an experience just being on the yard to us.

The later in the season you get, the less likely games can be made up. No time for Grambling to make up 2 games.

If all Grambling football activities are shut down for 2 weeks are you suggesting they play TSU with only a couple days practice? 2 weeks from last night is April 7th.
 



AAMU is going through a similar situation with it’s schedule that the University of Tulsa did when they had seven games postponed/canceled during the fall because of COVID issues with their opponents.
 
Either come to Huntsville next year or pay for us to come to Grambling next season. You saved money on hotel, travel and food, while we lost money on a home game.... use that money you saved and either come here next season or send us the money you were going to spend to play here so we can use it to go to Grambling next season. That way its a win win ....

Yeah, forget the fact that they spent money on testing to protect not only their own players but yours as well and that they are spending additional money to quarantine players who tested positive.

EVERY school in the SWAC spent money on testing....... Not sure you realize that you SAVED money by staying at home.... we didn't save any money by not playing a home game. Im not saying this is a punishment.... but spend the money you were going to use to come to Huntsville this weekend to come next season. Why should we lose money on a home game this year then lose money traveling to Grambling next season? Make it make sense.

I didn't agree with Alcorn's punishment for opting out. I still think they did the right thing.
 
Maybe the Commissioner will come up with a "Revenue" sharing for next season where the teams that lost home games against a particular opponent gets an increase in the travel fee from the host school.

That's not how it works. If grambling was hosting AAMU next year they would have to go on the road next year to make up for the lost game. There is no flip flop of home and home games.

Look at Alcorn, they lost 2 home games next season for the Southern & Valley games. Southern & Valley gained a game each next season.

Each school should host 4 conference games and go on the road to 4 games (neutral site games do have a team designated as the home team and that counts as a home game).

Looking at grambling schedule they would have to now give up home dates against stu and aamu in the fall.

Well with that logic, AAMU SAVED more money than every school in the SWAC.

It's pandemic. There are no easy fixes in any of this.

Hey sounds like a good idea. Like I keep saying... Nobody should get punished for doing the right thing with Covid testing. Im not upset or mad at Grambling for the positive test. I just think from a financial situation, the two schools should come up with some type of agreement. A punishment would be come to AAMU 2 years in a row... im not saying that... Im saying at least come to us next year then we go back to you the year after.
