Come on man... I feel for these kids.

I do not see this as quitting. This is a protest for better treatment. I'm sure the other sports teams at Grambling could tell some of the same stories.

Yep. That's the report I'm getting as well with regards to why boycott happened. I hate that this happened to these kids. Also why did the administration wait over a month to talk to the kids about Doug's dismissal? Those players deserved that 24-48 hours after it happened, not over 30 days later.
 
If PV players didn't quit GSU players shouldn't either. Tough times dont last tough people do, even though I heard they not coming I believe they will show up and put up a fight. I really think the situation with the food, along with a combination of losing Doug and playing JSU sent them over the edge. People may not want to admit it but playing in Memorial brings the best out of ya. Hopefully GSU get it together soon....

Why cant the Cafeteria make the team some some "greasy bags" for the team if they cant afford to take the team to a restaurant on the road. I mean really you got to get creative if you dont have money Grambling. smh

It don't take much to fix them boys some bologna sammiches w/a spot of mustard, a small bag of chips and a cooler full of jungle juices. :lol:
Grambling better apologize to them boys and send then on over.
We'll feed them on campus. We have a variety of restaurants and cafeterias on campus they can choose from.

He's in Atlanta shopping for his outfit to wear to the MCC. He ain't stuttin' Grambling's mess.


The only thing the SWAC said is "We still plan on having Four conference games Saturday; that's including JSU vs GSU"

Jackson State’s homecoming plans are expected to remain as scheduled.

SWAC spokesperson Zena Lewis said Thursday morning that all four conference games on Saturday are still on, including the game between Jackson State and Grambling.

The news comes a day after Grambling’s players failed to show up to Wednesday’s practice because of a developing situation with the administration.


The topics that frustrate the players include long bus trips to Kansas City and Indianapolis, the firing of Doug Williams and the general frustration of losing.

The team met with GSU President Frank Pogue, athletic director Aaron James and Student Government President Jordan Harvey Tuesday evening to discuss the state of Grambling football, but unhappy players walked out on the meeting.

Grambling (0-7, 0-4) is in the midst if 17-game losing streak to NCAA opponents and plays at Jackson State (5-2, 5-0) on Saturday.

But whether or not that game goes on might depend if the Grambling players show up at their 5 p.m. practice on Thursday.

I'll say this and be done with it. Grambling can't afford to miss this game for so many reasons. This will put a stain on everything GSU football if they quit. Not saying we will erase the great work that was done in the past but this aint the Grambling that I know. I have a few family members that are alumni there and they plan on donating more money. Eddie Robinson would be hurt if he was alive to see this. The people from GSU I ask this, are you gonna sit around and watch this crumble before your eyes? Everybody from GSU should start a rally, fundraiser or something man. Hell I will donate as long as it's legit....

This is ridiculous. The players who do not show up to play on Saturday should be released from the team indefinitely and yes if no players show up we should pay Jackson State. If no players show up then dismiss the team. Allow the new coach to recruit and build.

Yet, I know some of the players and some of them do not have a problem with Dr. Pogue or Doug being fired but that long ass bus ride to Indianapolis which is understandable. They are also angry about losing and just need some counseling in the right direction.

There are outside integers feeding their emotions.

Glad you have people connected with GSU because you are aware that all people do not feel a certain way. I along with a large number of people I know were happy that Doug was fired but the timing was not the best.

Secondly I am still contributing to GSU and what bothers me is that here are season ticket holders that purchase tickets no matter what the record is. Hell I went from 1 season ticket to 3. Then when the press box passes increased from $759 to $1000 I still got one.

These guys are young and mentally frustrated.

Do you really think Grambling can afford to dismiss the entire football team? The administration will lose this battle in the end.
 
I'm sure the administration will meet with them today and apologize. The guys will feel better and they'll load the buses and suit up against JSU Saturday.
(And they'll deal with the drama Monday)
Making it a thing of the past.
