Two sets of Tigers with two 2011 conference titles got together and talked defense late last week.

LSU coach Les Miles, Grambling coach Doug Williams and several of their assistants worked together for three days in Baton Rouge as Williams continues to seek progress with his another spring practice session back at his alma mater quickly approaches.
"We had a chance to go over some stuff they did and had some success with," Williams said. "Les Miles was very, very hospitable about us coming and sitting in with them, and it was a good three days for us. That type of professional enhancement is great for our staff."

Good stuff!

I'm expecting big things out of the defense...they are relatively young, but we have some good coaches on that side of the ball.

Coach Andre Robinson is gonna turn some heads as DC... I think we're gonna have a helluva defense even with the numbers we lost. Dre can coach...Glad Doug gave him a shot as DC.
Paid his dues...But he's hired cuz he can coach. Would be good if he can recruit or find another "Andre Robinson"... dude was a monster!

easy here,

Hey Biggs.....That's why I said " DOUG SAVED THE SWAC"......He knows what it takes to win and he even believes in making himself and his staff better with staff development with bigger schools....Something Eddie did long ago!!......

Nall you G folks wanted Doug to leave. :shame:

Why are you chiming in? Grambling don't have nothing. :lmao::lmao:

BTW, It's funny how some of you assume some things just from 3 or 4 different people's responses on this site. Everyone is entitled to their feelings and opinions but on many cases they don't reflect the majority.

Dude the way Jone skull drug yall last year, twice might I add shows yall days are over.

How special...note to self(speak to Les next week about this foolishness)...and ya'll ain't special it was a coaches clinic it was open to all!

You have it wrong. GSU was lucky. Jones gave you a championship. It should be **** on the record books.

Dude whats our record against A&M? Especially in a championship. A&M is only competitive against GSU in a down year and that is fact. Hell we won the championship in our rocky season. Damn Hy-Top team talking all that noise and get a win over Grambling once in a lifetime. rotfl.

Sounds special to me too DCG.

Good to see any coaching staff that looks for ways to improve their Football Team!
I agree. I've often asked why our coaches didn't go visit with other coaches during the offseason to get new ideas and learn more. I vividly recall reading about Tom Osbourne spending a week in Tallahassee with Bobby Bowden back in the late 80s. After watching his best teams get ran through by FSU and Miami, Osbourne realized he had to make some changes to continue challenging for a national title. By the mid 90's, Osbourne had FSU/Miami type talent at Nebraska. Speed to burn. Especially on defense. Coaches have been doing this. May not do it with coaches in the same conference, but it happens. And with us being FCS, I can't see why an FBS coach would mind us coming to watch and learn. I hope Doug starts a trend. He better. Hell, we can't beat Grambling now as it is. Comegy needs to do something.

It goes back further than that. Southern's Ace Mumford and Paul Bear Bryant would talk to one another about football strategy from time to time although they new playing one another in those times would not happen......Little known fact...
