Grambling Band to Perform at Rose Bowl Parade

I see that one trumpet player is still trying to hit those octaves he can't reach. I wish someone would tell him about that.

With GSU... I 100% believe THEY ONLY NEED AN ARRANGER... they sounded damn good during the parade today playing someone elses arrangment of the Star Wars theme.

the star wars themes were arranged by the gsu band directors and a former student arranger!
 
Did George Lucas have any say?


GSU sounded GREAT.

Not trying to put a grey clowd over you comment... But the arrangement was a nice, it gave them a calm sound.... More on the oder of what used to work for GSU... As of late, GSU arranger arrange too aggressive for their band. Being honest the arrangement sounds like a PWC arrangement with no kind of HBCU funk, but is was FIT for that occasion....:tup:

yeah they wanted the arrangements as close to the actual star war arranements with only some funky drum beats at certain spots in the music so that the band could do dance steps!

I wanted to say nearly the exact same thing, but folks get sensitive about criticism sometimes.....

Mr. Charles Lacy did The Imperial March

and Student Arranger Mr. Calvin Beckton also known as Maceo arrangement The Throne March

i got all the arrangements from Doctor Pannell for my brothers band!

Class Act of the SWAC, huh. You ALWAYS talkin bad about the G. They work just as hard as SU, and no disrespect but since Lucas looked at them first over yall, they must have done something right. Honestly, yall need to look back and realize that yall didn't sound as good as you thought.(Musical ears hear errors. You can't dazzle me with screaming and all triple f arrangements) LLI sounded better than yall on yall own march and did a drill in a parade better than the one I saw yall do this year. The man was right about SU hatas and you can't deny it. It's not that you hate that the SWAC has bad representation, you hate that once again GSU was selected over SU to represent the SWAC. If you are a real SWAC man, give them they props and stop bytchin.

1st, I would like to state in my defense, that I don't "talk bad about the G". I tell my honest opinion on what I saw/heard. It just so happens that 95% of the footage I see/hear from 'the G' is displeasing to MY eyes/ears. I still have never claimed SU to be harmonious, symphonic, or breath-takingly melodic. I never said SU deserved to go more than :vomit:*ramblin. I never said :vomit:*ramblin did bad at the parade.

Oh, and BTW, if YOU were a real SWAC man, you would be able to be truthful enough with yourself to admit that there are bands in the SWAC who had hella better seasons than yall and prolly coulda put on a better show.

:tup: :tup: True, we shouldn't wear blinders just because we are in the same conference. I'm all for solidarity but the young Juke makes a good point.
