At a Texas Tea Party Thursday, Gov. Rick Perry raised eyebrows by suggesting his state could secede from the union. On Countdown with Keith Olbermann that night, Texas political writer and Huffington Post blogger James Moore pointed out that Perry isn't the first Texan to suggest secession. He compared the Republican governor to Richard L. McLaren, a separatist leader who in 1997 took his followers into the mountains, engaged in a week-long standoff that left people dead, and now is in jail for life.

It's bad for Texas' reputation to have this "clowny hirsute governor of ours doing these silly things and doing these foolish things that are a bit of an embarrassment to all of us down here," Moore told Olbermann. Comparing Perry to McLaren, he said the governor's remarks had "transcended irresponsibility" in echoing that violent uprising. "We're seeing our governor saying the same thing, its fomenting a kind of ... civil unrest, it's just utterly irresponsible for a governor to say this kind of thing."

I certainly hope so because Texas has been running wild like a bunch of rabid dogs for a long time now, One of the main reason I didn't move there.
 
idiot, those that don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. LOL @ Texas trying to survive on it's own without government help. Oh them Mexican Drug Cartels would really love that.
 
God forbid the people in the Gulf region of Texas face what they did last year during hurricane season. If they do, he will be the first to call President O. asking for federal assistance. I bet he will not be talking about secession then.

Exactly. He's begging for Obama to pay for the National Guard to come in and take over the border because he's tired of Texas paying for it.

Instead of building a fence along Mexico's border that fence can be built along the Texas's border where Texas borders 4 states (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana). That definitely would provide jobs for those 4 states.

The casino money could be replaced by all the revenue that would be generated from companies wanting to move from Texas to Louisiana so that they can stay in the United States.

Well, you wouldn't be using Continental, American, or Southwest because they're all headquartered here. Along w/ at&t who owns all landlines across the USA inclusive of the former "Bell South" now (owned! :emlaugh: ), Frito Lay, JC Penneys, ExxonMobil, blah blah blah blah...

We all know Texas carries this putrid area of the United States. :D
