well atleast those kids arent somewhere on a pole at one of the 900 atl strip clubs, riding the peachtree alleys looking for trannys and/or selling/smoking that reefer. (well atleast not during that hour on that particular day)

These kids are just playing just as loud. I mean no kind of intonation,
H3ll they don't know no better because a lot of college students get on the net talking about the loudest band wins!!!! :angry:

Man we have been debating this for years. Its not just in your area, its all over Texas, Louisiana and everywhere else really except for N.O. and ATL. In Texas, we dont have any showbands with 100 members. NOT ONE !!! Not Beaumont Central. Not Willowridge.
We are living in a different time with a lazy culture of students. We have to deal with people skipping rehearsals, arguing with the bd, some even trying to fight the band directors (yes I have had to go Cactus Jack on a few people in my years). They quit for the smallest thing. I had one student to quit because she wanted to go to the casino. Another one quit because his lip was sore after one intense rehearsal. Another one quit because she didnt want to play "Mary had a little Lamb" in class but hell, she couldnt play the Bb scale.
Somethign is going to have to give. Now that the inner city schools are getting new uniforms and new instruments, the kids need to get right. Thats my two cents.
Thats why our HS's now days are so much SMALLER, thats why our HS's today couldnt even touch what they use to be 10 an 15+ years ago, From what you see in thses clips is what HS band is and MEANS today to Society and our younger Generations. But yall dont care... Just trying to make a point. HS bands will NEVER be the same as they were because of ALL OF THIS U SEE IN THE VIDEO and from that Man's Previous Reply I have in ITALICS

Legend, you are right and it is a concern, but the lack of musicianship displayed is the LEAST disturbing thing about this video.

- older
- have had kids in a HS program,
- got 6 kids - all seniors and including the band captain who is also the son of the booster president - suspended this year because they chose to go drinking before the last away football game,
- was a youth pastor for 10 years and a senior pastor for the last 5
I know these kids don't think because their parents don't think. My earlier post was about the BD. Here is another question for you: Where are the parents? Where are the chaperones? Why didn't they stop it? Why did they accept such risk?
My daughter was a DM in 2006-07. She loved to have fun as much as any kid, but doing something - leading something - like this would have never entered her mind. Why? Because getting suspended for something like this would cost her reputation, freedom, scholarships, and the the ability to sit down for 4-5 days. And, yes, she was 18 years old.

You are not saying anything new. That Peabody band in your post sucks compared to the 89-90, 90-91 versions and so on. This is not something new. High school and College bands have been going down since the 90's, the only program that seems to have gotten better honestly, is Norfolk State. It seems that every program(mine included ) are just shells of there former selves. I just hope that you are not an education major, because if you saw the schools as a whole and not just the extracurricular activities (those are actually the good kids) the depression might be too much for you to handlel.

are you for real? Please dont let anybody from Norfolk see you post that... The Norfolk of old would KILL the new Norfolk... Have you seen the old Norfolk when they use to play at Old Dominions stadium before they got their own stadium. The only band that fits what you are saying is Bethune Cookman. The old Norfolk was a KILLER band.
