Lesbian couple wedded at SF City Hall Women had been together for five decades

History was made at 11:06 a.m. today at San Francisco City Hall when Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon took their wedding vows, becoming the first same-sex couple to be officially married in the United States.

Mabel Teng, the city's assessor-recorder, officiated over the ceremony, inserting the phrase "spouse for life'' in place of "husband'' and "wife.''

"This is a very significant day for Del and Phyllis and for all of us witnessing this historic ceremony,'' Teng said before the couple recited their vows.

About 20 people witnessed the ceremony; many of them were moved to tears as the couple, who have been together for five decades, were wed.

They even showed gay couples kissing on the news when they were pronounced as spouses. SICK
 
All I have to say where are all these damn holy rolling preacher's at? I'll tell you where up in the pulpit spewing out a lot of BS to a congregation of about 95% woman and trying to figure out how else they can pull money out of their pockets besides writing books that pacify them.

As a "holy rolling preacher" who stands in public, before the congregation, privately, and on this and other internet forums speaking out against such unions and the like, please help me to understand what you are disgruntled about regarding preachers and this issue.

Most of the preachers that I know have been very forthright in proclaiming the biblical stance on this issue. I know that there is a congregation here in Tampa that embraces homosexuality, even to the point of performing ceremonies to unite same sex practitioners. In fact, the sister-in-law of one of the associate ministers who serves with me sent an invitation to him announcing her plan for a ceremony in May of this year.

So, let me say this to be clear:

HOMOSEXUALITY IS SIN. IT IS IN DIRECT CONTRADICTION TO THE TEACHING OF THE BIBLE AND THOSE WHO ENGAGE IN IT ARE ON A PATH TO ETERNAL DISTRUCTION RIGHT ALONG WITH ALL THOSE WHO PRACTING ALL OF THE OTHER ELEMENTS OF SIN.

Naw for real...All those prejudice folks against gays, yall better be careful what you say. A gay person may one day save your life. I don't condone it, but if you think about it, only God will be the final one to judge them.

I knew this was coming so let me make myself a little clearer for those that can't seem to understand these are two different issues.

I have several gay relatives as we all (even though we won't admit it) and I love them all, but them being gay and this country approving and legalizing their marriage is saying loud and clear to GOD the hell with you.

Now you and those that think like you have the right to say well it doesn't effect me but let me remind you that's what a certain group of people said about drugs and crime.

I'm not a person that goes to church every day of the week or every Sunday for that matter but what I'm is a person that takes God's word seriously as it pertains to us not letting our country go to hell in a handbag.

If you think it won't effect you obviously you miss the chapter on Sodom and Gomorrah. If you think it won't effect you or you have no responsibility here, remember when Cain asked GOD was he his brother's keeper?.

I think the resounding answer was HELL YEAH!

But guess what bluedog... that's been happening for years now. After they took prayer out of school, this was a red flag that God was no longer part of this country. Gay people have been shackin' up and living their GAY lives all this time, and most em' just wanna reap the benefits of a married couple in America. Those days are over. Bottom line: YOU are the one responsible for your faith. Our country is too busy trying to be politically correct. It's all downhill from here. Know why? USA has continued to allow amendments, little by little, fading away from the law because the laws within itself are contradictory. Total cop-outs as far as I'm concern I respect your point of view but what your saying is no different then what was being said when Jesus visited the temples or during the days of Sodom and Gomorrah or during the days of Pharoah, and I thank GOD that somebody was strong enough both spiritually and mentally to not sit there and except that those days were gone.

That's the same excuse all of these women who have bad a@@ kids use......Ahh children are different now those days are gone BULLCRAP!!! if our parents would have let us get away with it we would have, the difference is they truly feared and respected GOD and they would put a foot up your a@@ in a heartbeat.

God's word hasn't change then and it hasn't change now!

What's the difference between gays getting married and your everyday sins? People are going out and killing each other, commiting adultry, domestic abuse, child abuse, and everything else under the sun, but I what has happend is these tragedies have become part of everyday life, knowing that when you turn on the news, you'll hear about someone getting shot, killed or something that has to do with sin....Sooner or later, gay people getting married will soon be an everyday thing as well.

True enough, GOD'S word hasn't changed, but they way people have instilled the fear of GOD in their children has changed. The way that children are raised has CHANGED. You seem like you're not willing to admit that times have changed.

And everyone of those things are a crime and are subject to the law of the land and moreso they are crimes base on Christian Judah (spell check please) philosophy and we as a society do not condone them.

Any more questions? I got a book right here with all the answer, I don't read it as much as I should but it does have a table of contents I can refer to.

Btw are you for just letting those people commit those crimes without any repercussions just because they want to?

No need to answer it I was being sarcastic;) In other words we don't let folks commit crimes because they want too or they say times has change.
 
Well i see we got a big old one star rating guess that's the usual one that lurks around doing that. I always kind of figure that about him...but to each his own.
