Full Text of Obama's Speech on Race.

I must say, this was a excellent speech by Obama. But folks are attempting to pick this thing apart. Obama and his camp should have never released the text to this speech. They made it to easy to attack. On CNN, they were saying that Obama stated that he had heard his pastor make similar comments on several occasions. But when this story first broke, Obama denied he heard those types of comments and even stated that he wasn't in attendance during those types of sermons. He also said that if he had heard those types of things he would have left that church immediately. Some are saying he is totally contradicting himself.

I hope this thing passes over and we can get back to the issues. Even though I'm pulling for Clinton, I do not want to see Obama's campaign tank because of some stupid stuff like this.

That's a lie. Obama said at the beginning that he wasn't present when the particular speech that hit the airwaves was made. In his speech today, he stated that he's heard his pastor say controversial things before. Also, i don't recall him ever saying he would've left the church had he heard those types of things. He merely stated that he would've voiced his objection. That's not the same as saying you'd leave.

I admire Obama for using this as an oppurtunity to discuss avery serious topic and not taking the politician's way out and severing all ties like Hillary Clinton would've done(does she even attend church?). Unfortunately, if this is the American I think it is, today's speech will hurt Obama more than it helps. Because like you just said, people will only pick out the most negative parts and run with them.

Here you go...

Obama has been on defense regarding statements made during Wright?s sermons, including calling America the U.S. of KKK-A and saying the nation should be damned for its treatment of blacks. The Illinois senator has repeatedly claimed that he has never been present for any of the vitriolic speeches delivered by Wright, and does not approve of them.

?None of these statements were ones I had heard myself personally in the pews,? he told FOX News on Friday, saying that had he ?heard them repeated I would have quit.?

Great speech. Unfortunately, most people won't take the time to read it. They'll watch the snippets from CNN or Fox News. Or they'll look at headlines and judge the speech from those.

Look at the major news headlines, via www.politico.com:

Now you can't tell me those headlines are fair based on the speech you just read. But that's our media.

I'm starting to lose "hope".

yep you're right about our media

Obama is the man and speaks the TRUTH
I would love to be a fly on the walls of many races moreso whites, to see what they are saying about his speech.

All I can say is that was one hell of a move by soft candidate for President. Man he sure looked soft as hell today didn't he?
