PARIS, France (AP) -- France's foreign minister warned Sunday that the world should prepare for war if Iran obtains nuclear weapons and said European leaders were considering their own economic sanctions against the Islamic country.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner called for more effective sanctions on Iran.

Negotiations and two sets of U.N. Security Council sanctions have failed to persuade Iran to stop its uranium enrichment program, a process that can produce fuel for nuclear power plants as well as material used in atomic weapons.

Iran insists its atomic activities are aimed only at producing energy, but the U.S., its European allies and other world powers suspect Iranian authorities of seeking nuclear weapons.

Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, speaking on RTL radio, called for "more effective sanctions" against Iran if it continues to resist the demands to suspend uranium enrichment.

HYPOCRIT's to the 100th power.​

It was France leading the way giving IRAN Nuke technology when the West was imploring them not to.
Now these mofo's are just waking up to the fact that putting nuke weapons in the hands on Hezbolah is not a good thing.:shame:

France is something else.
I wonder how long it will be before the U.S. get's blammed for Iran having nukes when it happens. :rolleyes:
 



I'll blame the U.S. right now. We would have a much better voice on the situation if we had not gone on that goose chase in Iraq. Talk about Iran now just looks like more of Bush's insanity to everybody.

Iraq has nothing to do with this.

What in the heck do Iraq have to do with France giving Iran Nuke technology since 1997?
France practically built the Nuke facilities they have now.
They gave them the know how, materials, and engineer's............ALONG WITH GREMAM COORPERATIONS.

But it's the U.S. fault for going into Irac AFTER Iran got this technology and started their Nuke Bomb plans BEFORE Iraq and 9-11.

I remember the mad as heck posters here screaming that what business do we have trying to get the U.N to shut down Irans nuke program while France was still giving them technology under the bullshat headline of "It will be used for electric power production only".

All this "they got a right, the U.S., Briton, etc., got them, why not Iran".
The U.S. don't have a bunch of suicide bombers, Hezbolah, in control, 2 feet away from the button is why.

....reminds me of a country to put Hussein in power and armed Bin Laden in the first place...but anyway. My point is and has been since Iran and North Korea decided to grow nutz that we are in the wrong dayum place and doing nothing but lending a hand to their grandstanding. We done fugged up to bad to say shat now.
 
This must be Frances first time preparing for war since the Battle of Waterloo in 1815... Usually they just let people take their itsh over and wait for us to come bail them out.
 
France and Germany are just winking and nodding on this issue. It would be a US operation. I've asked the question in a thread below. Will Bush launch an attack on Iran without congressional approval? It appears Chaney and the neo-cons have won another augument. I hate to think that Bush would expand this war without the full support of the American people, regardless of the reasons. Pakistan has nuclear weapons and is far more unstabled than Iran. The Russians threaten us throughout the cold war and never attacked us. Israel can defend its self. Bush does not have the support of the CENTCOM Commander and it appears the military brass is split on how to deal with Iran. Attacking Iran would have major consequences on the global economy.

Letting murdering, brutal dictators run wild killing and the only thing they did for one of their "COLONIES" was evacuate their own people and left everybody else to fend for themselves.

Doubt it......................I'll put it out there and say no.
The U.S. will send diplomat's in on this one and let Europe, the one's that enabled Iran to aquire this technology to take the lead.
The U.S. will huff and puff, but we got our own battles to finish.

Iran is everybodies problem, but right now, THEY ARE EUROPES PROBLEM.
They can aquire existing missles that can reach Europe..........Not the U.S.

Europe's blind eye has finally got their nutt's in a sling and now that France has seen they can't control or talk to Iran, HEZBOLAH,, now they wanna sound an alarm that the U.S. has been sounding since the turn of the century.


As for Pakistan, they got their nuke's because India got one.
With them, it ain't about the U.S as far as nukes go.
They in a off and on battle over the Kasmire? region that those two countries have been fighting over forever.
 
Seeing as how France elected a Bush clone as President in the last election, I'm not surprised by the tough talk. However I seriously doubt you'll see them invade Iran without the UN behind them. The US DEFINATELY won't be a part of any unilateral Iranian invasion. For neocons, Iraq was always the main target.

You are correct........The Iraq war has hurt the U.S. credibility in the world among other things......
 
Iraq had no WMDs. The U.S. helped Saddam during his war with Iran. The war in Iraq was mistake. The occupation is a mess. If anyone fails to see that, they are naive and/or dishonest.

I wonder if Iran has as many WMDs as Iraq did before the U.S. invasion.

The U.S. was warned by most of the world not to go into Iraq. This administration along with the Congress' OK went anyway. Now, we have a train wreck of an occupation that the Congress does not have the guts to quit funding.

You can ignore the fact that the U.S. made a mistake if you want. But others will not. Other countries may make their share of mistakes. But the U.S. does not have to make bigger mistakes.

BTW some of the technical ability that the Iran has came from the U.S. Remember. The U.S. was very good friends with the Shah who ruled from 1954-79. Iran was a dictatorship under him.

And Iraq has what to do with Iran starting their NUKE program with the help of France and Germany back in 1997 to present date?
Iran ignoring what the U.N. had to say, ignoring U.N. sanctions, and kicking the U.N. inspectors out................basically saying fuggg ya'll.

Its too simplistic to say Iraq, Iran, Al-Queda, etc. are "US Creations". However we do tend to meddle in other regions and create enemies that are already against our way of life. In other words, Foreign policy decisions of the past, however necessary at that time, tend to come back and bite us in the future. But that's true with all powers, not just the US. You can't avoid that.

It was a renegade Pakistanis scientist who aided the Iranians and the North Koreans.

Bush's "Pre-Emptive" Policy annoucement and invasion/occupation of Iraq have facilitated countries like Iran to develop nuclear weapons. They know that is the only thing that will keep a cowboy like Bush off their arses.

Anyone with walking around sense knew that our invasion of Iraq would strengthen Iran and it's Shiite mullahs. All of this was predictable. Now we're caught in a proxy war and our Sunni allies (Saudis) are running sced.

If we pulled out of Iraq today, next year or whenever, the Iranians will take over. Bush got us in a pickle and will leave the next President with a mess on his/her hands.

TEHRAN, Iran - The deputy commander of Iran's air force said Wednesday that plans have been drawn up to bomb Israel if the Jewish state attacks Iran, according to the semiofficial Fars news agency.

The announcement came amid rising tensions in the region with the United States calling for a new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran over its disputed nuclear program and Israeli planes having recently overflown, and perhaps even attacked, Iranian ally Syria.

On Sunday, Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said the international community should prepare for the possibility of war in the event that Iran obtains atomic weapons, although he later appeared to soften that statement.

"We have drawn up a plan to strike back at Israel with our bombers if this regime (Israel) makes a silly mistake," Gen. Mohammad Alavi was quoted as telling Fars in an interview.

Fars confirmed the quotes when contacted by The Associated Press, but would not provide a tape of the interview. The Iranian air force had no immediate comment.

I thought we were attempting to have an honest discussion. We're not on neo-con talk radio. I'm not saying who's fault it is but trying to be realitic. Most followers of issues in Southwest Asia knew that Iran was the threat and an enemy of the US since the overthrow of the Shah in 1978 by Khommeni and the mullahs. Saddam actually served as a neutralizing force in the region and was not a threat to us. My point is the invasion and occupation of Iraq strengthen the Iranians. I think I made that comment in 2003 before we launched OIF
