When is/was your Family Reunion? What is the family name(s)? Where is/was the reunion? Where is your family from?

My FR is July 15-17 in Chicago. My family is from Rolling Fork, Mississippi and Louisiana. The ancestorial names are Johnson, Hollie, Birch, Anderson.

I bet some of you have unknown family on the board.

We haven't had a FR in quite sometime, so one was planned for July 1-4, 2005, all planning was begun in January, 2004 for this FR, to be held in Shreveport, LA. But all got cancelled in March, 2005 due to lack of participation, everybody wanted to attend, but not one wanted to pay any money. The ancestorial names are, Thomas, Elias, Davis, Whitaker, Samuels and Freeman. My family is from Louisiana and Texas...

Are the Andersons from LA, and if so what part?

My mom's side (The Hendersons) are having a family reunion next summer in Chicago. My folks are from Mississippi. There is also the Mayfields and Wrights, and they had one last year, and my mother keeps up with them.

My Father's side (The Clays) have a reunion every other year. It's always been held in Mississippi.

JD, Uncle Lewis Anderson did move to La. A small town north west of Lake Providence.
OK, my grandfather was from St. Francisville.

All of this reunion talk. We haven't had one in years, and that was my paternal grandmother's people (The Jasmin/Joseph's in the Vacherie area).

Rolling Fork!?!?!?

My FR was this past weekend in Jackson. And my family is mainly from Anguilla, Mississippi (originally from Dallas and Marengo Counties in Alabama)....

The Anguilla bunch consists of the following families: the Evans, Lovettes, Boldens and Watts... And the related families are the Steeds, Sisneys, McPhersons, Coopers, Fullers and Bankheads....

My dad's people are from Magnolia Mississippi, in a community callled Fernwood. Some also know it as Gillsburg. The Williams, Turners and Varnados. All belonged to New Home Church...... Their FR is July 8-10th.

Maternal (The Stewarts) - We're all from Louisiana, but of course, folks live all over now. Our family reunion was the w/e of July 9th, last year. It was a wonderful turn-out. We're not doing one this year...too much work.

Paternal (The Harrisons) - Don't know much about these folks, other than the immediate family. I don't recall us ever having a reunion w/this family.

Bilbrew(Paternal Side)-No reunion this year. I believe the reunion next year will either be in the Bay Area or in Texas. My grandparents were originally from Canton, Mississippi. They moved to Los Angeles in the late-1940's. Both grandparents have been deceased for many years. The bulk of the family that I know is in California. My grandfather's siblings and cousins mostly left Mississippi and migrated to California, Oregon, and Washington State. There are still many Bilbrews in Mississippi as well as in Texas, Tennessee, and Illinois. There is only one set of Bilbrews in the U.S., so we are all related in some way.

McCoy(Maternal Side)-No reunions in my lifetime. I don't know much about this side since my grandfather passed when I was about six and the majority of his relatives had passed on while my mother was still young. My grandfather was originally from the Alexandria area(Louisiana)and ended up in Maringouin, which is about 30 minutes from Baton Rouge. As a result, the McCoys were just about the only family in the area that were not related to anyone else in the area(except by marriage). I believe only one McCoy(my cousin, who is my uncle's son) remains in Maringouin since my mother's siblings all left the town.

My paternal grandmother, who passed away when my father was 12, was a Lipsey from Canton, Mississippi. My paternal grandfather got remarried to the woman that I have always called my grandmother, who is a Frazier from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania(she's White, so I would really be shocked if anyone on here is a blood relative of hers). The Fraziers are mainly back in Pennsylvania or elsewhere in the Northeastern U.S.

My maternal grandmother, who passed away in 1990, was a Toussaint who grew up in Baton Rouge. She married my maternal grandfather at 18 and lived in Maringouin until the time that she passed on. She was related to some Smiths and some Lawsons in Baton Rouge.

NOrth of Vicksburg on 61. Until about 3 years ago we had 100 acres there. My cousin tricked my 103 year old aunt into selling it.
