Fournette to skip Citrus Bowl to prepare for NFL Draft

Are you sure? They make money on the FCS playoff games. They make money off of March Madness in basketball.

Yeah, I'm sure.

You do realize the FBS championship trophy doesn't look like all the other trophies given to teams that win a national championship in the other sports, right?

There are no NCAA logos anywhere in on the field either during bowl games.

ESPN and CBS and bowl sponsors/bowl directors control everything.

Uh.....the NCAA were the ones that had to give the OK for the playoff format. Uh...the money got too good to pass up so they came with the 4 team playoff. Money drives all of this and the NCAA controls it. If ESPN and the other networks, as well as the bowl committees had their way we would have an 8 team playoff. The NCAA pretty much "lease" the teams out during bowl season. Why you think the NCAA went back on their word of only six win teams can only make the bowl games? Now they let teams in based on APR if they have 5 wins. They have to satisfy the "lease" agreement.

The reason they don't peddle out the NCAA tournament or any other sport for that matter is they make so much money off the football bowl system that it pays for the other championship sports in all divisions. So yea...the NCAA controls and makes hella money off the bowl games. They may not control time starts but they can control the days. Remember ESPN is still mad as hell about the semifinal playoff games taking place on New Years Eve in 2014. They had to beg the NCAA for over a year to change those games from that day.

ESPN doesn't negotiate with the NCAA for bowl broadcasting rights or game times. They negotiate with the CFP management committee (made up of school presidents) and the bowls themselves just as they did with the BCS commission. Before that it was the Bowl Alliance. No NCAA official is involved in it.

That's the NCAA. All of it is NCAA. Just another branch of....NCAA. See you missed who picks the CFP management committee....NCAA. What championship are they playing for.....NCAA.

Does Bill Hancock know about this?

Soooooo, the way you are putting it is that the four team playoff champion is named the ESPN/ABC/Playstation Fiesta Bowl Champ or Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl/ CFP Champ? Soooooo........when people look up the 2014-2016 NCAA FBS Football Champion they won't find anything? You telling me they will need to go look under "ESPN and CBS and bowl sponsors/bowl directors" to find out who the 2016 FBS Champion was for these given years?

Ok thanks.

Yep. Schools, pre-CFP, referred to themselves as the BCS National Champion, not NCAA champion or FBS champions.

Thanks for making the point even clearer. The networks nor the sponsors control the situation. It's the NCAA at the end of the day. lol. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. It can be BCS, CFP or what comes next but they will still be 20?? National Champs.

It's the bowls at the end of the day. The reason we have a playoff or before that the BCS, there had to be an agreement with the major bowls, particularly the Rose Bowl for it to happen.

There.
Has.
Never.
Been.
An.
NCAA.
Champion.
In.
Big.
Time.
College.
Football.

In fact, the NCAA has NEVER awarded a national champion in big-time college football (Now FBS) in its history.
