Berry Named STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year Finalist

MONTGOMERY – Alabama State University's Kourtney Berry has been named a finalist for the STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year. There are 25 finalists up for the award.

Berry has been among the conference and national leaders all season with his production on the Hornets defense. He finished the season with a SWAC-best 130 total tackles, which broke his record of 128 last season.

He also led the SWAC in solo tackles (59), tackles per game (11.8) and was second in assists (71).

Nationally Berry ranks fifth in total tackles and his tackles per game average are sixth. He is also 29th in the nation in solo stops.
