Yeah, I marched in the band at Callaway. I LOVE the Boom....always have....used to imitate 'em in the front yard when I was around when my brother was in the boom. He was there around 79ish. friends of mine are Kevin Gentry, James Wesby, Dewayne Williams to name a few that marched.

I sometimes get a little too critical since even though I didn't march. Just love 'em though.

Cool! I know Gentry and Wesby!

Ha! Yeah last name is Brown....played trumpet at Callaway.......but my brother went to.....let me see if I can get it out of my mouth.......Murrah. You know any Cooks(girls) from Callaway? First name starts with H and J.

Yeah but Jaydog, I live in Dallas and don't see the shows every week and still seems like the same music over and over again. can't say much about the drills because I don't see those as often....but can we get somebody in there to write/arrange some more music. Seems like the selection is small.

I agree actually, I just said I understand why they played so much old stuff in a place like Memphis. Old faithfuls are safe, lol! I do hope to hear some new songs in the next few games. By the way, Kevin Gentry is my crab brother. Next time you hear from him tell him "Bruh Man" said what's up.

Ok, I'll do that.........I'm always with him and some other folks at the games. He'll be in Jackson this weekend with us for the Valley Game.

I guess JSU is saving it's best arrangements for Southern?

That would be a good strategy.... Also, get some real arrangements and stop letting students write so much..... Just my opinions.... Oh! More opinions: don't play Nobody Does It Better or Under Pressure in the 5th quarter..... Or Golden Time of Day. Love the songs, just tired of them cuz yall have played them, with the exception of GToD, for the past 4 YEARS in the 5th....

As if ya'll don't have your old faithfuls.

If ANYTHING, don't YA'LL play Golden Time of Day in the 5th!

Not quite sure about the Cook's.

I was in the Boom from 81-84. If your brother was there at that time, I sure I would know him, but I don't recognize the name. :)

When I was in the Boom, our hair couldn't hang beneath the hat. We had to pin in up.
But *sigh*...times have changed.

Does her hair hang beneath when she puts on her hat?

It's called uniformity, and they have lost some of that. We all were supposed to look the same. Some things don't need to change...

Hmmm.... Under Pressure is stolen, am I not right? Old faithfuls aren't for the 5th quarter, and even if you do choose to play them, don't do it religiously. Maybe its just a coincidence that those are the Booms most beastinest songs, and they are the ones yall ALWAYS play in the 5th....

I dont too much post on here (band forum) but lets b serious, SU recycle music in the 5th just as much as JSU do, go back and take a look at 04 5th and the 05 5th. I counted some tunes that were repeated from both bands from the 04 5th quarter in the 05 5th quarter, most bands repeat those arrangements that are just downright beasting. And im pretty sure that in the 06 5th quarter at least 5 of the arrangements from both bands from previous years will be repeated as well. JSU just takes repeating those fifth tunes to the extreme though lol, although they do sound good and they do have other songs they can play, I guess Lidell is just stuck in that if it aint broken dont fix it type of mentallity.

No band has a copyright on any song. And it's not like ya'll don't "steal" songs yourself. I've heard ya'll play Golden Time of Day, as well as the "infamous" Swoop.

Let anyone from SU tell a story, everything they have ever done has been copied by every marching band, INCLUDING PWC's, in the world.

Oh ok. Yeah I think his last year in the Boom was around 78 I think.

Then why you try to out our government all out there like that? But, if you would realize, the cast majority of the songs we repeat from anyone else are Dancin Doll tunes. They don't know enough or care enough to not wanna play repeat tunes..... And as for the other tunes, you all should feel PRIVILEGED that yall inspired us to play a song!!!

I bet I know who this is........

I graduated from Callaway in 88. And if this is who I think it is, I saw this cat on lower Greenville during the St. Patrick's Festival (Shug Avery was with me). And the time before that, me, Scottie Mo and Shug saw him at the 'shake junt'......

Yeah, this cat can critique. He knows....

Hit me on da PM fella...
