For all my "natural" women out there........

I finally did it........after 19 years of going back and forth to da dayum salon, getting that buring azz relaxer put on my scalp.......

I CUT IT OFF!!! GONE!! BYE-BYE!! HOLLA!! :D

Anyway, I must say that it's a very liberating feeling.......I never knew the true state of my natural hair........however........

I'm beginning to understand why my mom had my hair relaxed at age 10.........

THIS SH*T IS THICK AS HELL!!! :bawling:

I mean it's so thick, I can't even run a comb through this sh*t!!!
I'm considering getting my hair relaxed again!!

I've also considered getting locs, but I'm afraid that I may get tired of them, and will have to cut my hair off........again!! :(

I've even considered a texturizer, but hell, that's just like getting a relaxer!!

If I let it continue to grow, I will have one big azz Afro!!!

I've worn the "European" look for so long, and realized that many Black women, especially here in Atlanta, wear their hair in the same styles, whether layered, straw set (I did the sh*t before it became popular) and so on............

I can't take it anymore!!! Somebody please give me a suggestion!! :bawling:

Stay Soft Fro, send help!! :lmao:

Sista I GOT YOUR BACK

There are alot of product that will help you. Dark n Lovely Natural is good... I am going to go home and make a list of all the items I use and email it too you...

Also since you just cut it off it will take a while to get back to it's "natural" state where you can just wash it and go...

I am sooooooooooooo happy for you :D But it will take time and effort

If you have any questions hit me up on aim

Congrats yvette! You have taken a big step!
Your hair has to adjust to the style and not having chemicals in it. When I cut my hair off in college I felt like I couldn't do anything w/ it but eventually my hair adjusted and I loved it!

WHHHYYYYYY!!!

Well I hope this isn't starting a trend. Because I loves me some perm!

What is we gone do!

Im with the Prez on this one.

I like Toia's natural look though. ;)

Go ahead on Yvette!!!

Girl, that was a mighty bold step. You must not have the same texture of hair I do. This stuff on my head is straight off the boat from Africa with no detours to Europe whatsoever. It's thicker than a wet haystack, thicker than cooked oatmeal with no water. It's rougher than sandpaper and tougher than cowhide. I would have to just have it all shaved off, if I were to go natural. The afro look would look like shag carpet.

Women and their hair.....

ROTF

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Vette, you need to make sure that I see your "new do" before it goes back to what it used to be.

We can go to Wal-Mart and I'll buy you the hair pick with the fist on it!!

Try a texturizer

I am currently a naturalist, but then again I have a decent grade of hair, meaning when left alone it gets wavy. A texturizer will bring out the NATURAL Wave pattern in your hair. Try twists and cornrows, wet and use an alcohol based gel to achieve a curl pattern and just be big and nappy.

U too??? You would think that a little "European" would have help me, but I guess I got it from my dad's side of the family because I'm the only one on my mom's side that have this grade of hair.......everyone else got what black folks call "dat good hair!"

Redd, when I had the rest of the relaxer cut off, I did wear twists for a week, but then I took them down and that's where the problem started........now over the weekend, I did consider a texturizer because I am trying to achieve the "wavey" look.......but I really want to try wearing a natural with no chemicals, at least for a while! :)

Thanks to everyone on here who are supporting me on my decision to go natural.......it was hard at first, but after my stylist told me that I haven't had a touch-up since February, I was like  So I figured I might as well go for it!

Congratulations!

Girl, I love the natural look. I did that a few years ago in '99. I kept a short 'fro for about 9 months. I relaxed it, and I am sorry I did it. I haven't had a relaxer since early July and I want that natural look again, but I don't necessarily want locks in my hair. I want to just grow it out long naturally. I think my only way to do it is to wear braids for a year and simply cut the relaxer off after I get about three inches of new growth.

Look on the internet for Natural Hair Care. There are tons of places in ATL. In Houston, there is a place called Ebony Persuasions that specializes in Natural hair...but they also, braid, twist, press, weave, etc...
